I’m still in shock for how quickly this all happened. Today my alarm went off at 6am, then I ate the last two Eggo waffles in my freezer in Cincinnati, hopped in a car to the airport, flew to a layover in Chicago, then to La Guardia, hopped in another car to the Belasco Theater, dropped off my bags in the stage management office, took my seat to watch this beautiful show, grabbed dinner and coffee, and headed to music rehearsal. A total marathon of a day, but riding home to drag my bags up four flights of stairs, take a much-needed shower, then collapse into my own bed, I wouldn’t have it any other way. I’m so thrilled to be heading back to Broadway—joining this amazing group of kind, fun, immensely talented people. Backstage full time starting in August, but don’t wait til then to see this excellent, truly special piece of theatre.

So long, Doc—it’s been real. Thought I’d have a couple more weeks at this, but the universe had other plans…all good news, so stay tuned. Swipe for a few of my favorite production shots, an obligatory dressing room selfie, and a list of scarecrows that I’ll miss most of all: (4) the best damn director/replacement and scene partner/Rosemary Clooney a guy could ask for; (5) this incredible band; (6) the best warm pretzel I’ll ever have (thanks, @blueoven ); (7) my favorite ice cream—all you mint chocolate chip haters come at me in the comments and I’ll tell you why you’re wrong; (8) the most charming, friendly neighborhood dive bar—visit @uncleleoscincy if you find yourself in Cincinnati; (9) the undeniably beautiful piece of Cincinnati-centric art I made at the @cincymuseum Thanks for having me, Cincinnati—til next time.

Next on the docket: GIULIA - The Poison Queen of Palermo at @pac_nyc I have so much faith in this show (and not just because I'm playing a priest), and I can't wait to be a part of telling this story to New York audiences. Come see us this July!

A whirlwind three weeks in Tamworth, NH putting up Neil Simon’s Barefoot in the Park at @barnstormerstheatre with the best sports I’ve ever seen! A week of rehearsals, two days of tech, eleven performances—such a fun, fast process, and to spend that time nestled in the White Mountains was a dream. And I doubt that I’ll ever do a show in which my onstage apartment number is the same as my actual home address! #barefootinthepark #theatre #summerstock #newhampshire #tamworth

New episode out now with Sam Simahk! We chatted about A Man of No Importance, his return to the Boston stage, and everything in between. Watch this episode on Spotify or YouTube. Link in bio. Sam Simahk is an actor/singer/musician/writer based in New York City. He is returning to SpeakEasy in A Man of No Importance after appearing in Big Fish and Small Mouth Sounds. A few other Boston credits are Into the Woods, Sweeney Todd, Sondheim on Sondheim, and She Loves Me. His Broadway credits include Into the Woods and Carousel. And, he’s been in the National Tours Into the Woods, My Fair Lady, and The King and I. His most recent credits include the Off-Broadway revival of See What I Wanna See and the American Repertory Theater’s Gatsby: An American Myth. When not onstage he may be wandering aimlessly with a camera, writing songs that he hides away from all but his closest friends, or wasting away with a Playstation controller in his hands (his words, not mine). Ashley Ha is a 19-year-old Taiwanese American performer, content creator, and activist. She is most known as the founder of the widely recognized Broadway Instagram account broadway_corner. Ashley also attends Boston Conservatory, where she majors in musical theatre. She advocates for representation onstage, onscreen, and in the media. Thanks for listening! I caught myself thinking: “I guess 2024 was a filler year” and then I slapped myself (psychologically, because I try to avoid physical pain). This year was full of travel, family, friendship, celebration, and shared grief. I went to New Zealand on a life-changing road trip (pic #1) and satiated my inner nerd (#2) en route to celebrate the marriage of half-life buddy @boy_unbound (#3). Of course there was a lot of performance, including a reading of a beautiful show (#4), baby’s first commercial (#5), and a rehearsal at the home of none other than Paul Shaffer (#6) which still blows my mind. I celebrated the Met debut of buddy @jortface (#7) and worked as a standby for the title role in a new musical (#8), then turned around and played one of my favorite roles (in one of my favorite costumes ever - shoutout to @zoaynotzoey ) with a dream cast in a dream show (#9). I went on a massive (and ongoing) reorganization binge (#10), dogsat my boy Charlie (#11), and got in a ton of uncle time (#12). I celebrated the 40th(!!) of former roomie @neildingow and visited London-dweller friends @evanrhodabike and @cjbrandt (#13). I went to my first Comic Con with fellow nerds (#14) and met other fellow nerds (more than half of the D&D crew) for an epic Lawrence concert in Boston (#15). I gathered with friends to mourn and celebrate a Great Man (#16). This was anything but a filler year. I have a lot of reservations going into next year (mostly regarding the next four years), but I have faith in my community—my friends and family—to help me through the hardships and the heartaches, as they always do. With gratitude, patience, and hope, Happy New Year!
