I caught myself thinking: “I guess 2024 was a filler year” and then I slapped myself (psychologically, because I try to avoid physical pain). This year was full of travel, family, friendship, celebration, and shared grief.
I went to New Zealand on a life-changing road trip (pic #1) and satiated my inner nerd (#2) en route to celebrate the marriage of half-life buddy
@boy_unbound (#3).
Of course there was a lot of performance, including a reading of a beautiful show (#4), baby’s first commercial (#5), and a rehearsal at the home of none other than Paul Shaffer (#6) which still blows my mind. I celebrated the Met debut of buddy
@jortface (#7) and worked as a standby for the title role in a new musical (#8), then turned around and played one of my favorite roles (in one of my favorite costumes ever - shoutout to
@zoaynotzoey ) with a dream cast in a dream show (#9).
I went on a massive (and ongoing) reorganization binge (#10), dogsat my boy Charlie (#11), and got in a ton of uncle time (#12). I celebrated the 40th(!!) of former roomie
@neildingow and visited London-dweller friends
@evanrhodabike and
@cjbrandt (#13). I went to my first Comic Con with fellow nerds (#14) and met other fellow nerds (more than half of the D&D crew) for an epic Lawrence concert in Boston (#15). I gathered with friends to mourn and celebrate a Great Man (#16).
This was anything but a filler year. I have a lot of reservations going into next year (mostly regarding the next four years), but I have faith in my community—my friends and family—to help me through the hardships and the heartaches, as they always do.
With gratitude, patience, and hope, Happy New Year!
