MBS Update We hope the community joins us Saturday for a reimagining of our annual ritual cleansing through community art and fire. This year Conclave is bringing yet another beautiful show to inspire and capture our imaginations while utilizing a scaled city scape alight with with the efforts and talents of an expanded and collaborative lighting and effects team. As Conclave conclude their performance we invite all to join us in a bright and rhythmic celebration that will turn the city scape into a dance floor and community gathering space for the evening carefully curated by an amazing and talented team of community DJs and light artists. MBS is hosting BarBar to help keep folks hydrated while we invite the community to collaborate on and participate in this newly imagined ritual, celebration, and community wide gathering. Our perimeter is still seeking volunteers to help assist for Saturday and Sunday, please reach out!

Here is what you need to know about Temple for this year’s SOAK. The Temple is Still Going to SOAK First and foremost: The Temple will be at SOAK. Our crew has been pouring our hearts and energy into this build, and the structure will be standing in Tygh Valley as a dedicated space for reflection, connection, mourning, and celebration. A “Cleansing by Water and Light” While we cannot have our traditional wood burn, we are stepping into a new kind of catharsis. On Sunday evening, in place of and at the time of our typical Burn, we will be hosting an alternative ceremony: a “Cleansing by Water and Light.” This event will include a gathering as we typically would for Burn at 9:30PM. The cleansing will beginning with short precession of lantern bearers at 10:00pm and will take approximately 30 minutes, and hopes to give a sense of catharsis, community, and continuity for all. For those who have offerings they feel the desire to see completely resolved before leaving SOAK, we will provide dissolvable paper throughout the event and the evening following the ceremony that evening. Following the gathering, the Temple will remain open through the night, and participants will be invited to dissolve their offerings. Guidelines for Physical Offerings The Temple will still be accepting physical offerings throughout the event, exactly as we always do. We welcome your photos, letters, mementos, and art. However, because we will not be reducing these to ash on-site, we kindly ask that you be mindful of the size and weight of your offerings this year. If you have any questions about specific offerings or size limitations, please reach out to directly at [email protected] or [email protected]. Our perimeter is still seeking volunteers to help assist for Saturday and Sunday, please reach out!

As part of our Radical Inclusion efforts, we’re excited to share two new accessibility focused offerings this year: SOAK has volunteer ASL support available this year for attendees! Check out Dust for details regarding ASL walk-up hours and ASL walking tours of the event. Having trouble with your wheelchair, CPAP or other medical equipment? We have a volunteer to help with that! Stop by Medical who can page them for support.

Fire season in Oregon invites us into deep respect for flame and careful, intentional practice with fire. If you intend to work with fire or dance with flame, applications are required by May 21st at 11:59pm. Fire performance is supported only within designated fire-safe areas. Please arrive prepared with a clear fire safety plan before any ignition. Bring a fire blanket and a charged fire extinguisher. Keep fuel storage and fueling containers well away from open flame at all times. Wear fire-retardant or fire-resistant clothing for all fire-related activity. Fire is held as a shared responsibility at SOAK, and your preparation helps keep the whole space safe and steady. Please complete the fire performance form through the link in bio. #fireperformance #soakpdx

Heya babes, we are just over TWO WEEKS out from our big event of the year. Being a big 'ol theme camp at SOAK PDX. . For the burners in the audience, after recent fire-related news at SOAK I feel a need to remind everyone that we are THE predominant LED camp five years running. And when you can't have as much fire, you must have more cool LEDs. . We are once AGAIN bringing LED badges and wearables, and again offering to teach people how to solder them. All as a gift. . This year's badge design is EXTRA epic and topical to our cultural moment, and we just made the full order of 100 to hand out at SOAK. . But this shit don't come easy or cheap. This year has been harder than ever, hard enough that There U Glow will be taking next year off with an uncertain future. . The best thing you can do is pitch in on funding us. That eases so much stress right now and enough of it allows us to consider continuing some projects. . . Official fundraiser in bio and also SUBVERT GOFUNDME FEES BY GIVING DIRECTLY HERE: Venmo: @Claire -Cassidy-2 Paypal: [email protected] CashApp:$ClaireDCassidy . . We'll see you out there soon! #soakpdx #guillotine #thereuglow
