subsequently, to board ITS Marceglia (F597) to meet the Commander of the Italian Mission for Operation
Mediterraneo Sicuro, Rear Admiral Da Pozzo.
The meeting highlighted the value of the collaboration between NATO and the Italian Navy in ensuring
presence, surveillance, and stability in the Mediterranean through constant operational coordination and
the sharing of capabilities and experience.

Commander SNMG2 Rear Admiral Nardone, visited the Commander of the Carrier Strike Group (CSG) Admiral Fagnani, aboard the Nave Cavour, flagship of the Italian Navy, as part of NATO exercise Neptune Strike 26 (NEST26).
The exercise involves a vast naval and air rapid response force, with the aim of strengthening Allied operational capabilities, ensuring readiness and maritime security in high-intensity scenarios. This training is essential to test power projection capabilities and joint-force manoeuvres in complex environments.
It was an important opportunity for the two commanders to discuss the developments of the exercise and the modes of cooperation between Allied forces, which are becoming increasingly integrated and ready to respond to global challenges.

During a port visit to Souda, #SNMG2 strengthened its close cooperation with NATO partners in Greece.
At NATO Maritime Interdiction Operational Training Centre (NMIOTC), Rear Admiral Nardone met with Commodore Athanasios Douros (HN) and Commodore Pavlos Angelopoulos (HN), highlighting the Centre’s key role in advancing maritime interdiction capabilities and operational readiness across the Alliance.
The visit continued to NATO Missile Firing Installation (NAMFI), where discussions with Major General Nikolaos Dimitrakos focused on interoperability, live-fire training excellence, and collective defence.
