CALL FOR APPLICATIONS - SNAP Emerging Artist in Residence 2026 - 27

The Emerging AIR Program offers emerging artists and recent graduates a studio space as well as an opportunity to work rent-free at the SNAP for a 4-month term. The culmination of each awarded residency is an exhibition opportunity. Each artist will have an opportunity to show the work that was made during their time at SNAP. This is a great way to encourage making and to celebrate each artist and their professional contributions to our community.
This residency is a self-directed opportunity intended for folks with intermediate printmaking experience. Artists should be engaging with media with which they have some hands-on familiarity, or seeking out mentorship opportunities before or during the early stages of their time at SNAP. Casino Shifts: July 10 & 11!
Please share far and wide!! This is one of our biggest volunteer asks of the year, and funds raised are crucial for us! Casino volunteer sessions are one of the most important sources of revenue for SNAP and helps sustain our yearly programming including gallery exhibitions, printshop upkeep, and opportunities for artists.
Volunteers receive a free meal, candy bars, and our unlimited love and appreciation! Additionally SNAP will cover transportation costs to and from the location, and hours can be logged towards studio access!

Spring and Summer 2026 classes are now live on our website! We have a variety of classes and workshops for everyone, from beginners to experienced printmakers! We're so fortunate to have a full roster of experienced and dedicated instructors who are passionate about people and print!

Our annual steamroller event is coming up and has a hot new theme : Summer Camp!! Think the last night of camp, string lights, and yeah! by Usher is playing somewhere close by (We probably won’t play usher, but let me set the scene).
This year, we’re switching it up a little! The event will happen from 5-9pm and is still free and family friendly! The final plans are still coming together but we’re excited for an evening extravaganza complete with a campfire, s’mores, live music, and more!!

Etching with B.I.G. Workshop at SNAP!!! It was a pleasure and privilege to present this workshop to these creators! They took all the techniques and ran with them. Such diversity to etching and printing with colour. It was a thrill!

📢 APPLICATIONS DUE SUNDAY MAY 4 FOR THE NORTHERN ALBERTA ARTIST PRINT RESIDENCY💥
SNAP - Society of Northern Alberta Print-Artists and Travelling Exhibitions Northwest invite applications from artists residing in northern Alberta who wish to work in the SNAP Printshop for a 4-week period to develop a new body of work. This body of work will go towards an exhibition at SNAP Gallery and on the TREX WALL. This visiting artist program is open to artists based in Northern Alberta who live outside of major centers such as Edmonton/Calgary. The residency will take place between the months of July and August 2026.

Call for Participants - Steamroller Print Activation!
The size of our projects are so often dictated by press size and rarely do we get the chance to really print BIG!
We are putting out a call to community members who would like to make their own large-scale carving! Community members are invited to work as large as 3x6 feet on lino or wood! Here's the way it will work :
1. Send an email to [email protected] with choice of lino or wood/ and the size of your substrate.
2. Purchase wood or lino yourself, and start carving to prepare for the event on July 25. We will prompt you with an invoice deposit for your fee! (the fee will cover your ink for the project and studio/materials fee for the day. Number of impressions is size dependant, and participants are responsible for carving material and paper or fabric to print on.)
3. Buy your paper or fabric and have it ready for printing
4. Show up day of, pay your remaining fee, and make a big ol' print with the help of some heavy equipment and a bunch of rad community members!
