KANTA getting some proper run-in boost now while testing the Turbosmart 8280 setup.
Currently making a clean 1020hp through a locked ZF8 8-speed auto at only 31psi, and this is just the beginning. Over the next few months we’ll be doing more development on the combo, testing different cam setups and cam timing strategies, then eventually spraying it with gas to really lean on it.
Even with the current setup, there’s nearly 1000rpm of response sitting in the intake cam timing alone on this little Nitto 2.8 package. Goes to show how much is in the calibration and combination, not just throwing parts at it.
One of the coolest parts about this car is there’s basically no original Nissan electronics left in it anymore. The entire Attessa system is now custom programmed and controlled via PDM, the whole car runs through multiple PDMs, fully keypad controlled with automated mode switching and functions throughout the car by whiteys wiring.
This is one of the shop cars built by Matt, myself and the owner together. Some of you will remember it as AKR32.
Pretty wild seeing a clean, responsive 1020hp through an auto RB combo.

Chris’s VF came in for a full MoTeC M150 package and calibration on one serious setup.
427 stroker, 2650 blower, full keypad integration and a heap of features all tied together properly. Once we started going through the car with the MoTeC logging and diagnostics, we quickly found the fuel system wasn’t keeping up with the level of the combo.
Matt rectified it properly by converting the car to a full return fuel system using an AI 1200HP fuel pump kit, giving the car the control and supply it needed.
The MoTeC integration in this thing is next level, full plug and play package with a complete harness from Whitey’s Wiring and GE Race Tune. Everything functions like factory but with full motorsport level control underneath. Brad from GE Race Tune is a genius when it comes to MoTeC integration.
On the tuning side, we’ve setup advanced traction strategies using blower bypass control and throttle movement to properly shape torque delivery rather than just harshly cutting power.
Result is a car making just shy of 1000hp at only 16psi while still driving clean and smooth like a factory car.
Massive effort from everyone involved on this one.

Luke came in chasing a genuinely responsive RB package and to diagnose a persistent misfire issue.
After going through the car properly, we found the fire rings weren’t sealing correctly due to the engine setup, allowing water into the cylinders. Once that was sorted, the goal became clear build a 1000+hp GTR that still drives like a proper street car.
A big part of that was rethinking the cam package. We dropped down from the larger SG Kelfords to a 272 SF high lift setup and picked up nearly 1000rpm in response. Goes to show, contrary to what a lot of people think, bigger doesn’t always mean better especially on a smaller capacity 2.8L RB setup where velocity and efficiency matter.
Result is a car making 1010hp @ 32psi with room left in it, while still driving like a stocker on Dekka 2400s. Full boost and proper power delivery coming in from around 4500-5000rpm onwards with the G42 setup.
Huge credit to Matt at MJS for all the in-house work on this one. The attention to detail shows in how cleanly this thing drives and responds.

Animal 32 getting its final touches and laying down a solid 942hp at 32psi.
This thing is an absolute animal and now with the Albins sequential fully calibrated, it’s become a whole different experience again.
The boys have absolutely nailed the parts selection on this build. Everything was built in-house and the attention to detail shows through everywhere on the car.
From the engine package through to the driveline setup, it all works together exactly how it should. Proper street manners, brutal power delivery and a gearbox setup that completely changes how the car feels.
Massive credit to everyone involved in bringing this thing together. Keen to keep developing it further.

Bit of fun on this one running a MoTeC M150 on a 2JZ with nitrous, and really getting into the detail with the cam setup to make everything work together properly.
Spent a solid amount of time dialing in the cam control to suit both boost and nitrous delivery, and it’s all come together nicely. The nitrous side of things has been especially interesting — full control strategy built into the ECU and managed over CAN via the PDM, giving us clean, reliable activation and a heap of flexibility.
We’ve set up multiple boost levels and launch settings all off the same buttons, with the ability to change how aggressive the power comes in depending on track prep. So whether the surface is tight or fully prepped, we can shape the torque curve accordingly and make the car far more usable and repeatable.
Everything talks nicely together — ECU, PDM, nitrous control, boost control and launch strategies. It’s a proper integrated setup rather than a patchwork of systems fighting each other.
The level of control these modern systems offer now is honestly wild. Being able to tailor torque delivery, nitrous ramp, boost response and launch behavior all through one ecosystem makes a huge difference when you’re trying to get a car to leave consistently and still be manageable.
Now it’s at the point where it just needs the bump and race timers dialed in and it’ll be ready to go chase some numbers.

Finally, a long-term project comes to life.
Featuring a serious combo Nitto 3.2L wide journal stroker, half-filled block, extensive porting and head work, oversized valves, and a proper cam setup (288/290).
Ran in clean and already putting down 800hp on the rollers all four on 98 at 26psi, controlled by a Haltech Nexus.
This car has undergone a full 2-year rework with the team at SSAC & 4PRD and it shows. The level of detail and execution in this build is something else.
First startup? No hiccups, no surprises. Engine bedded in perfectly no noises, nothing out of place. Straight away you can hear and feel how happy the combo is. Through the knock ears, it’s clean and stable, exactly what you want to see on something like this.
What stands out the most it drives like a factory car… just with a ridiculous amount of torque everywhere.
Next step? E85, bigger turbo, and a DCT to really wake it up.
The G40-1150 1.21 has officially met its match.
Quality like this doesn’t go unnoticed.

Sydney, we’re on.
Off to Sydney from Tuesday through to the end of the week, tuning with our friends at Sutherland Shire Auto Centre and 4PRD Engineering.
Looking forward to getting stuck into a few builds, and finally getting one of the bigger projects over the line.
Hopefully we can show it off at Haltech this time.
We know we’ve been a bit quiet on messages and calls lately — it’s been a hectic period at the shop and we’ve been working through a fair backlog. Really appreciate everyone’s patience.
We’ll be back online properly from May and opening bookings again.

Bit of testing playing with cam timing on this RB32 and it’s doing exactly what we want.
We’ve got peak power coming in at 5,000rpm and it carries clean through to 9,200rpm — that’s a massive, usable powerband out of a 1200hp setup. Even better, it’s already making 800hp from 4,400rpm.
This is on no gas, running a 7685 with the biggest rear housing we could get on it. At this point we’ve maxed the compressor, so next step is a custom setup — aiming for an 8085 while keeping the response where it is.
This is how you build a proper roll racing combo. Not chasing a headline number, but stacking the midrange so it actually works where it matters — especially at QR.
We’ve also got a clean 100 shot option there to bring that 800hp down into the 4,000rpm range when needed.
Already running wide journal and 4-bolt billet caps, so the bottom end is exactly where it needs to be to support what we’re asking of it.

Finally getting to the pointy end of the shop R32 – Matt’s brother’s tidy ‘94 GTR.
Proper head turner, seriously well put together. You can see the level of care in every part of it.
Now that it’s fully run in and we’re actually leaning on it with the EMtron KV8, the combo is starting to show its true colours rather than just cruising on the surface.
Artec manifold unfortunately isn’t it at this level. Looks good, sounds good, but once you push past ~500hp it becomes the choke point. High EGTs, noisy knock windows, per-cylinder timing pull and lambda corrections everywhere – the data is loud, not subtle.
Down low it chokes the engine, up top it drives EMAP through the roof and falls over by ~8500. Same turbo on a 2.6 is in ~800rpm earlier and carries clean to 9300. This 2.8 should be better again… but it isn’t. That tells you everything.
You can see it in the logs – as boost/load climbs, lambda starts dropping rich, EGTs climb, knock activity increases, and the ECU is constantly correcting per cylinder. It’s fighting the hardware.
End result is a super narrow, sensitive powerband. Not what you want on a setup like this.
Even at ~1000hp on a turbo rated well beyond that, it’s clear the turbo isn’t the limit – what’s bolted to it is.
We’ve turned it down for now. No point hurting a good thing chasing a number when the combo isn’t happy.
Car itself is solid – full TMF, proper airmass model, torque model doing its job, G-meter traction, slip and launch all dialled. Electronics are there, control is there, just needs the hardware to match.
So now we’re properly leaning on it, testing it how it should be… and as always, the data doesn’t lie.
