The 2025 Nobel Prize in chemistry has roots at @arizonastateuniversity .
Omar Yaghi, a former ASU assistant professor, is being recognized alongside fellow awardees Susumu Kitagawa and Richard Robson for work that helped launch an entirely new field: reticular chemistry.
Working with ASU Professor Emeritus Michael O’Keeffe, the team developed metal organic frameworks (MOFs) that act like molecular sponges. Their work has the potential to reshape how we store hydrogen, remove carbon from the air and collect water from dry environments.
Congratulations to the team for this esteemed recognition. Tap the link in bio to learn how ASU contributed to a Nobel-winning scientific breakthrough.

The coral needs help waking up!
From a distance, coral may look like rock, but really it’s a living animal that forms a symbiotic relationship with microscopic algae. The hard rocky formations are essentially its skeleton.
@sms.asu ASU researchers in the @asu_globalfutures laboratory are studying coral to learn what characteristics make them resilient to future environmental conditions. 🪸
