Spontaneous Sandlot in Smithville with the @bridgebatsofwaterloo last Sunday, helluva time. Joel has put together a badass baseball team, very much made in his own likeness: kind, positive, and full of talent! These photos are from our semi-injured 3B @mmmwhhh , now moonlighting at 2B. Smithville B.C. is happy to be back in action for season #4, bringing you community baseball from behind the Lost Pines curtain. See our schedule on Slide 2 - which includes our first ever away games - with a few more games to be added as the season gets under way. And a preemptive thank you to the following teams who have agreed to share the field and vibes with us this season @meatcitysmoke @redonionsbaseball @bastropbuntings @austinbeermakers Interested in playing with us? Please DM. Slides 3 and 4 (speaking at a city council meeting and the notes used to speak) highlight our ongoing efforts to improve our beloved Keilberg Park on "The Hill" in Smithville. We've started meeting with the City of Smithville about how we can work together to bring some life back to this community asset. Lastly, before all the injuries, striking out looking, and walks (nothing more shameful or pathetic than walking a batter) the crisp air outside is turning into spring and all lies before you as a blank slate hope floats like so many fly balls in the town watertower we etch our names and in these moments to come, one by one, like passing train cars (double tracks) we see ourselves rounding third and it must be baseball season baby! #sandlotrevolution

The @spacecityscrewballs and @spacecitystreakers visit on Sunday, October 5 for a baseball game the way it was never meant to be played: as a throuple. It turns out, Bastrop County IS big enough for two, amateur, in-it-to-have-fun-and-create-some-beautiful-times-together-type teams. We had so much fun hosting the @bastropbuntings on Sunday and look forward to many more meetups and growing our little corner of baseball-based community together. Thanks to @smithvillebrewing for post-game beers, @banditdogs512 for in-game dogs, and @mmmwhhh for the photographs. 1) Good game. 2) Obligatory water tower photo (sponsored by Water). 3) Our man Dustyn hit a real home run over the left field fence that splashed down in the ditch like a KC Royal dinger in the outfield fountain. The Firemen of New Ulm did not disappoint, they were a pleasure to share the field with on an otherwise inhospitable Sunday. It was 50 F (10 C) at first pitch, with a relentless gale of 20+ mph (32+ kph) blowing out to right center (one of the Firemen's hits got caught in the jetstream for the first homerun in SBC history). Don't let the pictures of our players sliding fool you. As an organization we are adamant about no sliding and giving only up to 70% on any given play. But someone that gives 100% effort? Our 3rd baseman/photographer @mmmwhhh who took all these great photos. Thanks to @smithvillebrewing for the post-game beers. Next baseball-themed hangout is with the @bastropbuntings on 5/4 at NOON "on the hill." Some of us will be wearing matching shirts for the first time! See you there.
