Today, we recognize our extraordinary 2026 honorees for their outstanding work in the community and long-standing support for Smith. 🎉✨ Claire Donato - President of @mbtarchitects , a registered architect, and @usgbc accredited professional, has led restoration projects at some of the nation's most treasured cultural landmarks. Since 2008, Claire and MBTA have been Smith Memorial Playground’s trusted architectural partners, guiding a multi-phase restoration and rehabilitation of the historic Playhouse, helping safeguard the building to ensure Smith remains a vibrant, welcoming place for generations of children and families. PECO - @pecoconnect strong culture of volunteerism is reflected in the time and care their employees bring to Smith and nonprofits across the region each year. For many years, PECO employees have rolled up their sleeves at Smith, helping with playground cleanups, special projects, and community events. Their commitment reflects PECO's belief in corporate citizenship while making a tangible difference in children's lives. Ms. Ruth I. Birchett - A lifelong Philadelphian and respected civic leader with deep roots in North Philadelphia, has dedicated her life to strengthening neighborhoods and uplifting local voices. Through her work with Heritage Corp in Philadelphia, her commitment to community development and preservation reflects her passion for protecting cultural heritage and expanding opportunities for residents.
