Innalilahi wainnalilahi rojiun,
It’s always good to be back on campus—this time at the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), University of Indonesia, Depok - Indonesia.
Teaching 25 parallel classes with 900 students is no small task. The subject is Introduction to Macroeconomics: Aggregate Demand and Aggregate Supply—an important and highly relevant topic for understanding and analyzing macroeconomic fluctuations. Very timely indeed..!
Enthusiastic students with smart questions.
Proud of them…!
I hope the students enjoy reading their textbooks with enthusiasm and remember to bring imagination and critical thinking into their learning. The tools they acquire should translate into meaningful knowledge and a deeper understanding of the challenges of managing an economy.
Penerus Kartini
Selamat berjuang meneruskan cita-cita mulia
RA Kartini. 21 April 2026
A New Generation of Kartini
“I do not know whether I will go to the Netherlands to study if the opportunity arises. It has always been my dream, and still is, to study in the Netherlands…
If I must study, I want to study well, and I can only do that in the Netherlands or in Batavia. The Netherlands is beyond my reach if I must pursue it on my own, and therefore I have set my heart on Batavia.”
(Kartini’s letter to Stella Zeehandelaar, 24 October 1901)
125 years ago, Raden Ajeng Kartini dreamed of studying in the Netherlands, yet that dream was never realized.
Today, many Indonesian women have the opportunity to pursue the highest levels of education (doctoral degrees) at some of the world’s leading universities.
They are Kartini’s successors—the ones who carry the responsibility to realize her vision: to advance and educate the Indonesian nation in pursuit of a just and civilized prosperity.

Invited by CETEx (Centre for Economic Transition Expertise) at the London School of Economics (LSE) and hosted by Professor Robert Patalano for an intimate discussion on “Fiscal Policy for Economic Transition in Emerging Markets and Developing Countries.”
Energy demand continues to rise with development progress and accelerated by rapid advances in digital technology and AI. At the same time, global (fossil based) energy markets are under strain, while environmental impacts are increasingly affecting people’s lives and livelihoods.
Managing and navigating this complex landscape and difficult trade off requires a credible, consistent, and effective fiscal policy framework to support the transition toward sustainable and renewable energy and supporting infrastructures.
We also discussed the role of Coalition of Finance Ministers for Climate Action (CFMCA) which I co-chair for four years (2020-2024).
Good quality discussion.
Nairobi the new location of UN agencies (UNICEF, UNFPA, and UN Women) and visit to Kilifi – Kenya
Enjoying a lovely afternoon coffee (this time, a latte) at Spinners Web, followed by a fabulous dinner with Duta Besar RI untuk Kenya, Bapak @witjaksonoadji , dan Ibu @utami_astar in Nairobi, after my full working visit to Nairobi and Kilifi before flying back home.
Spinner Web is a wonderful space showcasing and selling art products from artists and small and medium enterprises, as well as coffee from Kenya and neighboring African countries. I brought home two bags of coffee - enjoying different taste of coffee.
A very productive visit.
