Donald “Pappy” Sutton passed away surrounded by family this past weekend. The founder of Saint Michael’s Fire & Rescue, Pappy dedicated his life to serving and protecting others. There are no words to describe the profound impact that Pappy has had on the past, present, and future members of SMFR, as well as the communities that we have served for over 50 years. Pappy has left an everlasting legacy to which the members of SMFR will faithfully carry on. One of Pappy’s favorite quotes, “remember what you stand for and stand tall,” is one that he lived up to each and every day. This quote flies high at our station to remind the members to live up to it too. May Pappy rest in peace and continue to look over each and every one of us.

🚑 Andrew Conger '26 of St. Albans, VT, says Saint Michael's Fire and Rescue has had the greatest impact on his professional and personal development during college. The volunteer fire and rescue service, run 24/7 by current students and alums, responds to thousands of calls per year on campus and in surrounding communities. Because of this opportunity, Andrew said he has learned a lot about leadership, communication, teamwork, and creative problem-solving.

Happy Holidays from SMFR🎄🎁
Tonight, members of Fire and Rescue were invited to attend Troy’s Toy Drive. With a main goal of providing underprivileged children with gifts for the holiday season, members assisted in spreading the holiday cheer and gave tours of E9 and A2 to a bunch of future first responders.
We want to wish the community we serve as well as those at SMC happy holidays and good luck going into finals week!
