She’s done it again!! My incredible mom @smashingtiles has been hustling since June to create her second Keramieken Kaart (AKA ceramic map). Some of you who live around Delft have probably seen her first map tucked away at the Papenstraat. Last night my mom, her super helper Hannie and I assembled the (almost) full map for the first time. The next time it will be assembled will be on the wall where it will live. Speaking of which, we’re mounting all these incredible mosaic panels created by local inhabitants this weekend in Oud IJsselmonde. Happy 2025! Let the creativity of a brand new year flow in this relaxed, friendly, 4 hour workshop, in which you will mosaic a 26.5 diameter bamboo plate with ceramic or glass tesserae. Date: Sunday January 26 13:00-17:00
Whether you've never made a mosaic before or have lots of experience, I will provide any needed guidance so that in the end, a nice “andamento” is achieved! If you're not sure what that means, you will by the end of the workshop! You'll work with a cement adhesive, and a grouting demonstration at the end of the day will help you learn how to finish your piece at home once it is completely dry (grouting kits with instructions are included). Coffee, tea and cookies provided (bring a sandwich for a little extra energy if you like.)

Sidewalk Art Mosaic Workshop: Saturday 23rd of November 10:00- 14:00
In this relaxed and supportive 4-hour mosaic workshop, you will use glass tesserae or ceramic shards to make a colorful mosaic on a 30x30 cm cement sidewalk tile. This can be installed on your sidewalk, placed in your garden or on your balcony/terrace. Whether you've never made a mosaic before of have lots of experience, Nan will provide any needed guidance so that in the end, a nice “andamento” is achieved! So pleased with the restored mosaic sitting stones in the Poptahof! It was only possible with the efforts of so many amazing volunteers! Special thanks to @chloeadahe for her colorful design and @wijcafe for the workshop place, hot drinks and facilities! Thanks to @gemeente.delft for this beautiful assignment. The Poptahof is proud of these gems and happy to see them restored. Sylvia Verschuren was the original creator of these gorgeous cement forms and they were mosaiced with her amazing Delft Blue designs also with volunteers. This time, we hope to maintain them!
