Many of our projects to protect green spaces share a common thread: the areas at risk are home to endangered species. From the Jefferson salamander in Mount Nemo, to the Little Brown Myotis bat in Inverhuron, to the Hine’s emerald dragonfly in Springwater Township, these species critically need our help.
On this #EndangeredSpeciesDay, we want to recognize everyone who is fighting to protect priceless ecosystems and their inhabitants across the country. Because of people like you, these species stand a fighting chance.
Exciting news! We are teaming up with @smallchangefund to hire for two roles: Social Media Coordinator and Community Organizing Coordinator.
Both roles would support Small Change Fund’s partnership project with 350.org, Elevating Community-Rooted Climate Justice in Canada. This project aims to change harmful energy policies and expose the real costs of pollution. We equip climate organizers with the tools, resources, and skills to engage the public, organize in their communities, and mobilize to demand strong climate action policies and secure institutional wins that reduce emissions and advance justice.

We are pleased to welcome Nikki Nguyen to the Small Change Fund team as Director of Finance and Operations! Nikki has more than 10 years of experience in the nonprofit sector and has worked across bioscience, Indigenous charities and organizations supporting people with disabilities.
Nikki was born in Vietnam and now resides in Ottawa. She enjoys travelling and spending time outdoors with her family.
Small Change Fund recognizes Red Dress Day, a day to honour Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls and Two-Spirit People and raise awareness about the ongoing crisis of violence.

As we continue to celebrate #NationalVolunteerWeek we thought we’d share an inspiring volunteer spotlight! Angela began volunteering with our partners at @movementyvr in January 2025 and hasn’t looked back. Her experience has been so meaningful that she strongly encourages others to volunteer: “I feel like I’ve made so many good friends along the way, there’s a lot of mentorship through getting involved, and there’s a strong sense of community.”
