A month ago, I did something I had never done prior. I ran and finished the Ikogosi 17.5km race. Like it was hard???!😂😭😭
I had struggled to post this, cause I didn’t make my <3hr goal. I forgot to pause my timer at the end and my Strava edit is a mess. I was worried about the cellulite on my skin. My skin was proper burnt (till today, even); and you know all the weird limitations we give ourselves sometimes. Guess what? I finished. Regardless of my time, I did it by myself (I should train more though).
I can’t post all my snaps from the race but I was filled with so much gratitude. I remembered:
The first morning I went out to run.
The first set of friends I ran with.
How I did the AMSA 4500m medathon 10days into my run journey. @thegreatamsa
My class girls waiting for me in front of the hostel during the medathon. I think of that sight till today.
My first 5k.
When I downloaded Runna and Strava because @odamigram replied my TikTok comment.
My mom getting me run shoes.
My sister getting me run shoes.
How @kay_khenney would give so much run advice.
The night I ran by 3am.
My first run in Ido.
The fear when I signed up for the race.
The encouragement from the friends I spoke to first.
My consultant driving me from Ido to Ikogosi run office to pick up my race kit. God bless you Dr.Adewara. I hope I meet you in exam.
The security man that let me pass the main gate at monastery so I don’t lose my stride.
The shock on people’s faces when I tell them I’m trying to be more athletic.
My friends. God! Such wonderful people. I saw all your posts!
My classmates’ support the day before the race. It was surreal!
The Chivita @simmys_sway got me after I finished my 5k improvement run in February.
My period holding it down throughout the race. God it was crazy!
My hip getting tight at 8k. I had to walk most of the remaining half.
I remembered them all.
I was so full of gratitude. I cried so much. Who do I even think I am? Doing all of these? God is so faithful to me. He really gives me so much strength.
Thank you Tese for trusting in yourself to do the things you say you’ll do. I’ll keep believing in you.
Also guys, please run.

On this third episode of The Relatable, we bring to you 'Locked in syndrome'.
It wasn’t about the disease. It was a mental state. My favourite places to go were back and forth, circles with no obvious progress.
