#theatrepeckham #peckhamfringe #tp40 #yourstoryyourstage
Lee Slater is a writer, performer and multidisciplinary creative whose work blends the emotional intensity of theatre with the lyrical urgency of modern music and queer storytelling. Originally training in drama before becoming the first Andrew Lloyd Webber apprentice at the Watermill Theatre, Slater’s career has moved fluidly across television, fashion and performance - from working on Amazon’s All or Nothing: Arsenal to collaborating with East London fashion house AGRO during Lady Gaga’s Mayhem era. Those experiences, combined with his journey as a non-binary creative navigating traditionally restrictive industries, have shaped a voice that is both deeply personal and politically charged.
Drawing inspiration from Shakespearean language, female rap and contemporary queer culture, Slater’s writing explores themes of identity, intimacy, shame and emotional survival with poetic honesty. His debut play, Four Walled Boyfriend, marks his return to writing after nearly eight years and reflects his commitment to creating space for complex queer narratives rarely seen on stage. Through his work, Slater aims not only to entertain but to challenge audiences and expand opportunities for a new generation of openly queer artists.
