“In rural India, particularly in areas like my hometown of Sindhudurga, farmers ingeniously repurpose old sarees to create fences. These temporary barriers protect vegetable crops from wandering cattle and some wild animals like bison and wild pigs.
The vibrant colors of the sarees also help to deter animals.
Seeing these saree fences always reminds me that even the common people possess an innate artistic sense in the simplest thing around them. I captured these images in and around my hometown.”
