Del-Rio Comic-con 2026 in the books 🤘🏻 @delriocomiccon2026 Always a good time in Del Rio, I am so beyond grateful to have been a part of it for a 3rd year and just can't wait to be back next year. Maomao's Farewell dance, Apothecary diaries (S1E2) [Original Sold, Prints Available] ✨️ out of all my recent works this one is my favorite, not just because I love this scene but because I definitely struggled throughout this piece during the sketching process and persevered. I hadn't attempted a side face in so long so I almost gave up on it instantly... several other times too actually.... lol got it down then the front face with her head slightly elevated was a struggle because of the nostrils, in the end they still bother me as well as her mouth placement. But I digress I had to remind myself that you cannot grow your skills with out trial and error. I wouldn't call this piece an error but I almost gave up and in the end I'm proud of it, not without the idea that I need to spend more time sketching, especially because it is special to me to keep honing my skills. ⚠️[spoilers for Apothecary Diaries diaries end of season 1 ahead] In this scene Maomao performs a dance in honor of her mother's so to speak freedom. Maomao and her mother's relationship without saying too much was strained. Her mother lived a complicated lifestyle then contracted an illness that slowly deteriated her. Either way when Maomao hears of her mother's somewhat positive depature/outcome and aware of her inevitable demise, she celebrates alone, performs a dance that in their tradition they do for said situation. She even performs while she is recovering from an injury on her leg and arm, its such a beautifully tragic performance. I could go on forever on how much I admire Maomao's selflessness and strength, but this is why I chose this scene and just picked out my favorite moments during the dance. 🌸 Hope my back story makes sense. Probably not this anime is full of old history, traditions and politics from a completely different culture. So to explain Maomao and her mother's story would be too extensive for me to even do the story justice. Great serious but also silly anime though, nice pace imo. Anyways what anime are y'all into right now? Is there a character you're currently obsessed with? 🤗

✨️🌼 Moon Fairy Maomao 🌸 🌕 [Original Sold, Prints Available] From Apothecary Diaries a character I immediately fell in love with because of her practical & humble personality. Her excitement to learn about poisons & medicine is so endearing, I could go on forever about how much I adore this character. That being said I'm extremely proud of the way this work came out & I am doing a second fanart of her from one of my favorite scenes, its nearly finished, I can't wait to share it & a little of the story behind it. I wouldn't want to completely spoil the anime. Although the story is charming I will say this anime is definitely not for children as it deals with many mature topics/themes. I am also working on Frieren & Fern fanart. I started them at the same time as this piece, they also have basically the same pose & moon in the background so I went forth with this one first in hopes the next 2 moons will be as close to looking similar as each other as possible. Glad I got the practice in because although I love this moon it think it turned out much darker than I intended but I still love it. In case you're wondering why it's green I just drew from reference photo which you can find at the end. Also funny enough I have a moon map & I kind of used it as reference as well, then got overwhelmed with the details lol thus is the product of the moon in this piece. 🌕🧚‍♀️ Tell me have any of you watched Apothecary Diaries, do you love it or do you love it? is it in your watch list? ⚕️💚

🐭 Hiya its melo here, yes she still paints & creates she is just really bad at sharing it so I.... Officially painted the Big Dipper or should I say, Ursa Major. ✨ Fun fact: The Big Dipper isn’t actually a constellation. It’s an asterism, a small part of the much larger constellation, which it's actual constellation that it is a part of is called the Great Bear or Ursa Major. 🐻 the dipper part is just easier to spot so thats how its known as such, also takes 2nd in easiest/most recognizable constellations to find 🔭 This watercolor peice was actually suppose to be a redo for a zodiac constellation but I just couldn't see it in the piece so I decided to finally do a constellation that has been highly requested. I will be working on some acrylic versions the big dipper tonight. 🌌 What constellation would you all like to see me paint? Lately been getting back into streaming on twitch both art & cozy games ☁️ no set schedule as of yet 😬 but tonight I will be streaming some said acrylic space art at 6:30 PM CST on Twitch (link in bio).
