Ready for the 2025 harvest. Plums anyone?
Before the houses came, our Lakeview Heights neighbourhood was filled with orchards. The area was established as a result of returning Canadian servicemen being granted 12 acre parcels of land to farm.
Our property is lucky enough to still have one of the original Italian/prune plum trees.
Preserving this historic tree was a big part of Sleeping Bear’s design. And despite some worry throughout the construction process, things turned out just beautifully.
Yum. Here’s to 80 more years of sweet tanginess.

In 2023, while construction was still underway, we planted a little peach tree with the hope that someday we would get fruit. And here we are today. Yum.

Last night the Sleeping Bear kitchen was used for the very first time and we were invited to dinner in the guest house by these two lovely people.
To be able to shake off some of the recent stress and enjoy their company, along with the space we have spent so long imagining, was incredibly memorable.
Oh, and of course, the food was delicious. ( Emir and Cansu are both extremely talented chefs, @okanaganpastacompany )
