Today, @slbcommunity teamed up with @csulbasi and @csulbpantry to host our BIGGEST Mobile Market EVER, welcoming over 500 students and staff!
With the help of 30+ incredible staff, student workers, and volunteers, the event was more than just a market — it was a celebration of community, compassion, and 5 years of partnership!
We were thrilled to be joined by our very own Kelly Alarcon @nutritional_science_kelly — one of our amazing Directors AND a proud CSULB grad student — adding even more heart to the day.

The CSU Los Angeles Food Access Summit 2026 served as a vital platform for addressing the realities of food insecurity.
Student Lunchbox was honored to host a food drive for the students and participants who attended.
This event opened an honest, much-needed dialogue about the systemic challenges many face, moving beyond surface-level discussion to create a true symbol of community advocacy.
We want to extend our sincere gratitude to Jessica Vera for her incredible work in organizing this powerful event. Her dedication brought us all together to confront these issues with transparency and purpose.

Today we hit the record of support from our peer mentors, high school volunteers and staff. 27 incredible individuals supported our mobile market distribution serving 217 students and their families with big smiles and compassion.

In this role, you’ll:
🎤 Lead strategic storytelling and media outreach
📰 Build professional press materials and media kits
📡 Connect with journalists, editors, and digital outlets across Southern California
🌟 Serve as a spokesperson alongside SLB leadership
This is a hands-on leadership experience designed for students pursuing Journalism, Communications, English, or Public Relations who want real-world experience shaping the public voice of a growing nonprofit.
