So good news. Slapbak is putting out a new record as "Slapbak." Funk Lives Matter is a concept album. It's......Da Funk! This is the new single in its entirety. We're shooting footage for the video this Sat. June 1st at Skyloft 9pm. We've never been a fan of fake LA videos, we want to represent who we are with our crew of people. So hopefully y'all want to show up and participate in the fun so we can capture that for the video. We'd greatly appreciate it🥰🥰
I know I'm a day late, But I had to do some kind of tribute. He truly set the bar high for all bands and artists to follow him. He will always be missed❤️
I recorded this back in 2016 as a tribute after Prince passed. It's the one Prince song I've ever recorded. This to me is one of Prince 's Masterpieces, so I didn't want to put a spin on it. I just wanted to record it true or close to how Prince recorded it. So I did it all organically, no cut and pasting, no programming.
...I played everything. No autotune and I even went further than Prince and put real drums on it instead of a drum machine. I even learned his guitar solo, but to be funny, I played on the purple Hannah Montana guitar I'm holding in the slide show. I lost it all in 2017. Luckily this was on YouTube. Oh and bless Jaz and Gus for getting me the same exact Hannah Montana guitar a couple Christmas's ago 😁😁😁 I'm looking forward to celebrating the genius known as PRINCE tonight at Ivan'z House....Mozambique (4/17, 8:30)
Well usually you can catch Slapbak about everything 2 months in OC. I've always loved playing in our home town where Slapbak was born. But we won't be performing live again until June 6th at Levitt Sioux Falls and Levitt Pavilion Dayton Ohio June 13th. We're working on Cincinnati for June 12th, but we would love to hit Minneapolis for the first time and maybe Milwaukee and Chicago. I'll keep you all updated. But if anybody has any good strong possibilities in those cities please send me a message and we'll put them in touch with Randy's office to work out the details. We always... always appreciate everyone for sticking by us. Btw I think we'll do an OC show in Aug. But in the meantime I'm enjoying these other projects I'm jumping on. Tribal Funk, Official Biz...... Gospel Brunch has been a lot of fun every 1st Sunday of the month (including Easter). And Legacy Of Prince tribute April 17th...both at Mozambique and just showing up for all the other cool bands around town. Love y'all and let's keep our heads up 🙏🏿🙏🏿🥰🥰
I just want to thank every single person for reaching out for my birthday. It really does mean so much. It's been such a busy week and it's going to stay that way all the way through Sunday.
