This wasn’t part of the plan… but here we are 30 years later. In case you were wondering where Synthesis Agency came from… here’s a bit of the story. Which is a story of finding yourself through music and the dancefloor that I know so many of us ravers and artists resonate with. From raver to founder, from the dance floor to digital strategy… Synthesis Agency has been built to serve the underground. Artist first, music-forward. Always. šŸ’œšŸ“² Skyote Moon Founder & Chief Visibility Officer #musicmarketingagency #musicmarketing #artistmarketing

Most DJs don’t realize this… But knowing how to read a room is one of the most invaluable skills to have for social media. I remember when an artist I work with described what I do like a DJ but I play with content … knowing exactly when to drop the right piece at the right moment. And they are right! I do this all the time and I think it’s what makes our strategies work so well plus we have more fun. If you’re paying attention your audience is telling you where the energy is moving. And sometimes it’s also your job to surprise them and pull out something they didn’t expect! That’s how a good DJ reads the room and it’s no different around here! Promise me you’ll remember to put this skill to use of the dancefloor too! ____ #artistgrowth #artistbranding #artistmarketing #electronicmusicartist

Might die on this hill alone but … I truly believe social media is a completely different experience when you create with intention. When you leave your need for validation and approval out of it. When you stop obsessing over numbers and ā€œoptimizingā€ for views. When you lead with YOU instead of what you think you should do. And focus on offering your expression, your artistry, and your message in service of something greater than you.

Hear me out on this one… Your problem isn’t social media or marketing. It’s an identity problem. The more you know yourself the easier it is to express yourself and not feel like a sell out. And I want no complaints about having to create content or use social media in the first place. I’m talking to you specifically DJs … lol. This is your moment to control the narrative and build a world you love to play in everyday not just behind the decks. Do the little audit I suggest at the end and let me know what you find and how I can help. šŸ–¤ ____ #artistgrowth #visibilitycoach #djlife #musicproducerslife

1. Commit to documenting the weekend — prep, travel, gig, post event, around town etc. NOT just performance clips. And you don’t need to ā€œcreateā€ moments you think people will like. You’re not an influencer. 2. Over the course of the weekend, choose a few of your documented moments to share in your stories and add some context to it. Share what you're feeling or an actual perspective or insight your having… bring people along for the ride. 3. At the end of the weekend take everything you documented and dump it into one folder on your phone labeled by gig. 4. On Monday or Tuesday go through that folder and select 5-20 photos or clips that you feel paint the full picture of your weekend. Don't focus on performance clips only. Boring. Weave in some other parts of the story. Do a quick edit too. 5. Write a caption in your own words, using your own brain and your own voice. Share an actual perspective or something that you learned or experienced. Don't be generic and say "what a night" or just "thank you." Add something extra (not ChatGPT) so you can use this as an opportunity for your fans to get to know you better. 6. POST IT. I coach my artists with prompts and ideas every gig weekend and we get some of the best content that feels authentic and real and even get things to use down the road as well. If you can stay focused on documenting vs. creating things you think people will like this is actually quite easy. I can be your coach too. DM to find out how. As far fetched an idea as it may be… what if you decided to love being seen?

Be the DJ of your digital world… Use the skills you already have: - reading a room - developing an arc - understanding energy - your artistry to create your content strategies. Stop spitting out AI strategies. Stop downloading more templates. It’s not working because it’s not an extension of YOU. And it’s not syncing up with where your community is at. Your platform is a constellation of people who want to dance with you. So dance with them in your content. This is a little except from my weekly live office hours on Thursday’s … drop a question below and I’ll give you my take. ___ #artistgrowth #djing #musicproducer #djlifestyle #electronicmusicproducer

The algorithm has trained us well. But we have the power to give our attention and energy to what matters most. Presence, energy, and true expression not sculpted or distorted to get the most attention possible... I am choosing that. Or at least I am going to try. What do you think about the attention game we are all playing?

Caring about the numbers isn’t a bad thing… changing who you are because of them is.

I’m consistently losing followers right now… and it's ok. In fact it's a good thing. It means my message is getting more refined, clarity is coming, and people pleasing is out. Celebrate people choosing what's right for them and creating space for more community that truly resonates with you.

AI can’t read the room like you can. I kind of chuckle when I see those ā€œAI generated 30-day’s of content for me in 2 minutesā€ posts. It’s gonna be crap. Sorry. There is no way I’d outsource my 30 years of scene experience to AI… and neither should you. I love to think of a content strategy like a DJ reading the room. So much more fun that way and way more effective. A pre-planned calendar generated from a machine simply can’t match that kind of responsiveness to what is *actually* happening in your life and the scene. Putting in that extra bit of work goes a long way!

I’m not anti-AI at all. But I don’t believe AI can replace your embodied expression. In fact I believe AI can confuse you and make expressing yourself harder if you constantly outsource your expression to it. If there was ever a time to do the deep work of knowing yourself and overcoming your fear of being seen… of expressing yourself fully and trusting it …. now is that time. I’d love to hear your thoughts on this.
