At the heart of Riotous Youth is not only the craft of acting—it’s the discovery of self through play. Using Shakespeare’s words as a vehicle for exploration, our students build confidence, imagination and emotional honesty. Through rehearsal techniques rooted in ‘Yes, and’ and ‘No, but’, they learn to listen deeply, respond truthfully, and bring generosity and presence to every interaction on stage.
Join us this weekend at Sky Stage as we celebrate the return of Riotous Youth with Romeo and Juliet: A Riotous Youth Showcase. This 90-minute adaptation is performed entirely by young artists (ages 9-15) as the culmination of Riotous Youth’s semester of training.

Frederick Arts Council’s Sky Stage is a unique open-air performance space framed by the walls of one of Downtown Frederick’s oldest buildings. Featuring a sustainable sculpture that spirals ribbons of plants through stonework dating back to before the American Revolution, Sky Stage isn’t just a venue, it’s a living work of art and a nod to Frederick’s storied history.
Sky Stage will host music performances, and other events throughout the weekend.
