SKN Montana Test | Part 1
What happens when you take a real-world wind tunnel… onto ice?
We pulled SKN off the racetrack and into extreme snow and sub-zero conditions to test one thing:
durability under pressure.
The hypothesis was simple:
If it survives ice, vibration, cold soak and extended running beyond prescribed life — it survives race conditions.
The result?
• 30,000,000+ data points
• Multiple sessions
• Operated beyond rated lifecycle
• Zero structural failures
This wasn’t about performance.
It was about proving reliability where most systems fail.

Not the conventional proving ground for a performance aerodynamics platform — but that’s precisely the point. At @sknsystems we build for real-world environments, not controlled lab assumptions. Ice, altitude, temperature swing, variable grip — the system needs to work everywhere.
Over the week we generated millions of surface-level data points on the Toyota GR Yaris, expertly piloted and prepared by @smcoaaron . Different surface. Same mission: measurable aerodynamic intelligence.
And a timely reminder — motorsport should always be fun.

The @sknsystems Test #1 machine is an absolute rocket ship 🚀 🏎️ (sound on for this one 🔉)
The Panoz DP-01 was built for the 2007 Champ Car World Series — a series owned by our founder @lyalldavenport late grandfather and mentor, Kevin Kalkhoven. Under the bodywork sits a turbocharged Cosworth XFE V8, from a company Kevin also helped steward.
For Lyall, this car represents an early spark: the intersection of engineering curiosity, competition, and relentless iteration that now underpins SKN. Fitting that our first on-track validation platform carries that lineage forward — from analogue race engineering to real-world data capture.
An eagle eye will spot the small “K” on our team kit, a quiet nod to Kevin and the foundation Lyall and his grandmother @kkkalkhoven established in his honour.
A huge thank you to @moore.motorsports and @paultracyofficial for the opportunity to get this car back on track and support our first SKN test.
Why we do it. Motorsport is the ultimate test of performance and precision under pressure, the breeding ground for new technology. SKN is forged in the testbed of motorsport in order to make sure we are prepared for any performance industry.
