𝐃𝐨𝐧’𝐭 𝐒𝐤𝐢𝐩 𝐂𝐨𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐞 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 For three days, everything revolved around control, flavour, and precision. We welcomed Skip (@skiproeland ) from Don’t Skip Coffee to our location for an in-depth coffee roasting training. But that process starts even earlier — at the origin of the bean. Its provenance, structure, moisture content, density, and potential. What exactly happens between the drying phase and first crack? Where do you lose control without even realizing it? And how do you ensure a profile isn’t just good, but reproducible? We analysed curves. We tasted differences that seem minimal on paper. We sharpened our focus on the details. For us, coffee roasting is about mastery. About knowing what you do — and why you do it. These days have deepened our knowledge. Insights we carry forward in our development and toward our customers. Here’s a small behind-the-scenes look at three days of intense focus. Thanks, Skip, for sharing your expertise. ☕🔥 #training #coffee #coffeeroaster #masterroaster #coffeeprofessionals

What an amazing weekend! Doing Barista and Cuptasters and helping out at brewers. I kinda overdid it but enjoyed myself doing it. Thanks @sca_netherlands for all the care. Very proud of @jenniferhoogeveen cupping a flawless 8/8 round, very proud of @jolien.coffee coming in 4th place and I’m happy to take home the 4th award barista championship and a 6th ranking in cuptasters. Thanks @coffeeglow for all your time and input. Team @backtoblackcoffee represented well this year. Thanks for a great competition @meanttobean @tristanfm @esthermaasdam and congrats to @te_niels showing how hard work will be rewarded!

I love training people, working with baristas and sparring about flavour. But working alone in the roastery… ❤️ @backtoblackcoffee @giesencoffeeroasters maintenance loving the roaster life.

Tamper theories: So I heard about #idroprep through the grapevines, I am pretty weary about changing tamper surface but I got intrigued. For my run for Dutch Barista Championships I got in touch with Alexander and he send me one to try out. Theory behind it explained in the 3rd pic. Main questions for now: Is it possible/preferable to have an uneven puck surface to improve consistency of puck density? What happens when already have an extensive puck prep that works. Main question: Does it taste better? Looking forward to finding this out! Keep you posted.
