Wild West Weekly Update #1
A new chapter is taking shape on the west side of Powderhorn. After decades of service, the historic West End Chairlift is coming down to make way for the Wild West Express, a detachable high-speed quad that will modernize access while keeping the spirit of this beloved terrain alive.
Crews made strong progress this week: the haul rope has been removed, the motor room has been disassembled, the lower terminal has come apart piece by piece, and several lower towers are now down. At the same time, forms are being built for future tower footers—the first permanent steps toward the new lift rising on the mountain.
We’re working closely with Leitner-Poma of America, the United States Forest Service, and our project partners to complete this work responsibly, with careful attention to wildlife closures, erosion control, revegetation, and wetland protections.
It’s bittersweet to say goodbye to the West End Chair, but mighty exciting to see the future begin. Stay tuned for more updates, keep clear of all construction areas this summer, and look out for details on the West End Chair Auction, happening online from June 1st–7th.
The Bike Park Scheduled Opening Day is Friday July 3, 2026! Summer Season Passes and Add-Ons are discounted through Monday, July 6: purchase Summer Passes on our WebShop, or email ski@powderhorn to upgrade your Winter 26-27 Passes with Summer access.
For riders ages 10-17, signups for our Trailblazers Multi-Week programs are open now, with limited spaces available for 4 recurring lessons on Saturdays this July, or on Sundays this August.
Flat-Out Fridays is back for the fifth season, with fun, friendly races held on July 10, 17, 24, and 31. Races are open to riders of all ages and skill levels. Participate in at least three events to be entered into the series standings!
New this year—and per the requests of our riding community—are Sunday Slaloms. Come August and September, we’re organizing head-to-head elimination races on the Dual Slalom course. More details TBA.
Sunday Sounds free live music, Guided Nature Hikes, Mountain Dinners, and Gears & Beers all continue this summer. Visit Powderhorn.com/events to get the latest updates as they’re published. We hope you all can join us for another Grand summer at Powderhorn!
Our Mountain Dinners fine-dining series returns this summer, with a very special meal to start things off: a five-course, full-service Mother’s Day Brunch! Enjoy seasonal locally-sourced cuisine and drink pairings with your honored guests, from 12pm-2pm Sunday, May 10.
For this event, our culinary team is serving up fresh, fruity, and floral dishes alongside brunch classics, from Benedicts to Bloody Marys. Plant-based and alcohol-free options are available for each course. Reservations are limited—visit powderhorn.com/events to view the full luncheon menu, get tickets online, and view dates for our future Mountain Dinners. Bon appétit!
That’s a wrap on the 2025-26 season.
Today, March 22, will be our final day of the season at Powderhorn.
While this winter didn’t bring the snowfall totals we all hoped for, it was incredible to see so many of you make the most of every turn, sunny lap, and powder day we did have. In each of our 108 days of operation, you showed up, embraced the bluebird conditions, and reinforced what makes this place so special.
To our guests, pass holders, staff, and community - thank you for being part of this season.
We’ll be back before you know it. Until then, enjoy the off-season, and we’ll see you soon.
