Join us for a commemoration of Palestinian Prisoners Day Saturday, April 18th, at noon (12pm EST) in person at the University of Cincinnati in the Old Chemistry Building, Room 560, or virtually via Zoom (https://ucincinnati.zoom.us/j/83401506696). Light refreshments will be provided.  Our discussion will focus on the role and impact of political prisoners within the Palestinian cause, as well as recent developments, including execution orders and the legalization of sexual violence in Israeli prisons, with special guest S’ad Nimer, a former Palestinian political prisoner and professor at Birzeit University, popularly called the “University of Martyrs.” We will also have members of PAL-Shield give a short talk on ways to support Palestinians on the ground being plagued by illegal Israeli settler attacks. We will discuss poetry as an act of expression, community building, and resistance. The event will include featured readings from local Palestinian poets, a guided writing workshop, and an open mic.
