This is what it looks like when the art community comes together. We’re elated to see such an enormous show of support at the opening of The 2026 Oregon Artists’ Biennial: The Price of the Ticket, curated by Sitka resident TK Smith.
•
The Price of the Ticket, presented by Oregon Contemporary, explores the interconnected themes of place, power and promise, especially as they relate to our complex relationships with the land, our histories and our nations. It will act as a response to the 250-year anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
•
Earlier this year, the Biennial faced an unexpected challenge when a confirmed National Endowment for the Arts grant was withdrawn at the last minute, putting the exhibition at risk. Sitka stepped forward with emergency support to help ensure the project could continue. The gesture reflects a shared belief that artists—and the conversations their work creates—matter deeply in our communities.
•
The exhibition runs April 3 - July 5, 2026.

This June I’m heading back to Sitka Center for Art & Ecology to guide you through building your own ceramic spiritual animal in the tradition of Mexican Alebrijes inspiration.
Over three days you’ll sculpt, shape, and bring your creature to life with colorful underglaze, texture, and soul — all in one of the most breathtaking settings imaginable, where the forest meets the Oregon coast @sitkacenter

Special thanks to the @leonianfoundation for its support of Sitka’s youth outreach with point-and-shoot instant cameras, chronicling sense of place in the high desert. In Paisley and Lakeview, Oregon, Sitka Photography and Rural Youth Outreach Fellow Mike Vos recently spent a week in residence as a teaching artist, working with students who rarely have access to visual arts classes during the school day. Thank you for helping make this impactful photography project a reality. @studiomikevos
I woke up at the beautiful @sitkacenter for my first full day as an Artist in Residence here. Cascade Head was in a morning cloud, I set up my studio, got into some ink, and saw more squirrels than people today. Hoping day 2 will be just as big!
