What We Make: Object in Place—“Don’t congratulate me yet” is something I’ve jokingly said over the years of milestones in this thing I’ve called Anda… I’ve learned to be a bit more grateful for things, but the hint of truth that remains is frankly I’ve rarely met a goal in doing what I do, so I just kept going and going, hoping it would eventually finally lead to the fruition of something I’d envisioned…
When
@sit.first approached me with the opportunity to work together, I had a gut feeling that this was it. I didn’t know exactly why, though I’m sure it had to do with feeling I was being pulled out of a year of hopelessness across other aspects of my life… besides that, it just sounded fun, and in pulling a lot of great folks into yet another thing I’d envisioned, stress and all, it did end up being a lot of fun.
Without further ado, my thanks to Mika
@mikaburbano_ from
@sit.first for being equal parts a fun, capable, and understanding collaborator. She just /gets it/, and she has /it/—anyone who gets to work alongside her and Sit First from here on out, consider yourself blessed!
The seeds of What We Make were planted way back in the pandemic, born out of a desire to simply yap about things in design, to lead the conversation somewhere more in the realm of ideas and objects and dynamics in an arena filled with glorified gossip seshes and portfolio presentations. Icia was there to see it and as delusional as I was (still am), I’d envisioned someday we’d get to have our stage to do just that. So my thanks to
@iciatadiar for distilling her years of rare 🥩 experience and acute sense of what’s important in design into her presentation, and sharing that with myself and all of us…
