Hi friends! We’re @anniefdowns and @katyboat and we get the honor of leading Single Purpose League.
It all started out of a desire to have a place to talk about the good things and the hard things and the hopeful things when it comes to being single. It’s a roller coaster, but what we’ve learned is riding a roller coaster is way more fun with a big group of friends.
Join us over on Patreon for our monthly podcast episodes, Chapter Meeting (livestream), and a ton of friends who just get it.
Together, we’re discovering our single purpose and our purpose while single and we need you there too.

The Buddies Tour kicked off beautifully last night- a few hundred friends laughing together for a few hours. @edwardoreddie is a level of unhinged when we are live and aren’t recording that is a true delight. 😂
The @singlepurposeleague hang after the show was a total highlight to me. We had SNAX FOR DAYZ (Cheetos! Bless God!), LaCroix for each gal, @goodranchers beef sticks (thank you Good Ranchers!!) and just so many great conversations.
My favorite part of the after party was watching SPL gals who came to the event alone chatting together and making new friends. SPLers are uniquely gifted at helping everyone feel welcome, and I watched it for 30 minutes last night. It was the sweetest.
Listen. If you’re in @singlepurposeleague , don’t miss coming to these shows. Come alone. Bring a friend. Come with other SPLers. We’ve got a party just for you and I can only speak for one night, but so far, so great.

(And if you’re not single or in SPL, we still have a seat for you at The Buddies Tour! 😂 Thus is just an SPL appreciation post. We are in Colorado Springs tonight! Then Charlotte, Orlando, Birmingham, and Nashville!)
We recently recorded an episode of @singlepurposeleague about mothering, and as soon as we finished, we looked at each other and said, “Should we share this with the larger That Sounds Fun audience?”
In episode 1059, you’re going to hear a conversation between @anniefdowns , @katyboat who co-leads Single Purpose League with AFD, and our friend, Christen who is a single mom of two adopted little boys.
Our hope is that whatever emotion Mother’s Day holds, you’ll be reminded that the story God writes is full of hope and purpose, even if it’s harder than you would have imagined.
This month in Single Purpose League we’re talking about singleness and the desire to be a mom. What does it look like to mother right where we are?
Our friend Christen is joining us to tell her story of fostering and adoption, and the good, hard, and hope of it all.
This is a special one, and we’re sharing this episode over on @thatsoundsfunpodcast today as well - so forward it to a friend who may be wrestling with this too.
Plus, tonight is Chapter Meeting 🎉- we can’t wait to unpack this some more in our monthly Q&A tonight and if you’re not married right now and curious about SPL, it’s a great night to join us!
How does your attachment style impact your relationships? Do you know which one you lean towards? We’re talking about all of it in this month’s Single Purpose League episode on Patreon, and @jason.vanruler is helping us better understand ourselves and how we communicate with others!
A very special week in our faith begins on Sunday- Palm Sunday. We have a few ways to share the stories with you!
If you want to hear it, I’ll read it to you this week on @thatsoundsfunpodcast - make sure you’re subscribed to the podcast and the daily reading starts on Sunday!
If you want to read the Holy Week scriptures on the day they happened, we’ve made a few free plans for you. All you have to do is comment “HOLYWEEK” and I’ll DM you the free plans. There are 4 plans in the PDF- they are all the same, just different styles. So pick the one you want!
Again, comment “HOLYWEEK” (one word! No space!) and I’ll send you the plans! 🤎
Last week I was asked in an onstage interview, “what’s one thing you think people need to know about singles in the church right now that no one is talking about?”
My answer: think of them at Easter.
On Easter Sunday, you will see single people serving in every area for multiple services. You will see single people showing up alone. You will see single people dressed cute and scouting the lobby for other cute singles (AS THEY SHOULD!).
But you don’t see singles around the Easter lunch table. It’s the holiday we often aren’t thought about or invited to join.
We plan Friendsgivings in November and Galentines in February. We see our families often at Christmas.
But Easter, the one about life and growth and newness and freedom, my friends and I historically head home after church and don’t do a special meal- no ham, potato salad, Easter egg hunts, or sweet tea with family around the table.
But we’d love that. At least, lots of my friends would.
So as we get closer to Easter Sunday, would you think about your single friends? Invite them to sit with your family at church. See if they want to join for the Saturday egg hunt. Offer them a seat at your Sunday lunch table and let them contribute to the meal in some way.
What a gift you will offer by just sending a text or extending an invite this Easter. 🐣🤎
(By the way, besides me, all the women in these pictures are single and incredible. Slide into their DMs if you are interested in knowing them- or send this post to a single Christian man in your life!)
(Also I absolutely posted their pictures without their permission. Oops. 😏😂)
Single friends- sound off in the comments of ways you’ve feel seen and cared for on Easter! Give us more ideas on how to reach out to the unmarried friends in our church and community!
And you’re welcome for the last pic. 💁🏼♀️😂
Will I get back up again after loss?
@courtneyprayduke is on the Single Purpose League podcast this month sharing her story of losing her husband, walking through the grief, wrestling with God, and finding restoration and hope through it all.
Episode 26 is available exclusively over on Patreon!
“Would we rather have the life we want or the life God wants for us?” - @elizabethwoodson
This month in Single Purpose League, we’re asking: How do we pray and let go of control? @elizabethwoodson joined us for this incredible conversation, leading us with wisdom, joy, and hope. You don’t want to miss this episode OR her new book, Habits of Resistance!
Come join us this year in Single Purpose League where you’ll find exclusive conversations like this one!
At our last Chapter Meeting, we got to CHEERS TO TWO YEARS OF SINGLE PURPOSE LEAGUE (obviously with our Shirley Temple floats)!
Two years of fun and friendship and honest conversations. What a gift.
AND, as our members know, 2026 will be the final year of Single Purpose League in its current form. The grand finale, if you will.
So, for the rest of this year, we get to talk about the final 12 topics we want to make sure every single woman knows to thrive right where she is today. You in?!
We have one last year to make sure we’ve left nothing out, and this is our invitation to you! If you’ve kept an eye on what SPL is up to, but you’ve never joined, now is your time! Give us one year together.
Plus, you’ll get access to all of our episodes and livestreams from the past 2 years, and you know we’ve got some fun plans in the works for ways to gather in person. 🎉
We don’t want you to miss this. You know where to find the links! ⬆️
What would you do if you knew it was your last Christmas being single?
