Been slacking on posting because too many things to do and going on right now. @bxlcafe -1-2-Having a craving for belgian fries and mayo is dangerous because you end up here and the food and beer is delicious. I mainly came here for the fries so the actual main of the beef stew (carbonade flamande) was just there as a fun bonus. Also an order of bitterballen because I was like “Huh, haven’t had this in years” and I remembered why after I had a bite. Good stuff but just not for me (and this is consistent from my travels and not against Bxl Cafe) @jollibeeus -3-4- My friend wanted the FF14 collab emote. I wanted an excuse to eat fried chicken and get funny stickers. I mean, it’s standard jollibee stuff except the drink which tasted like blue. —- From @newyorkcitypizzacrawl - Follow them and join a pizza crawl! @roeblingpizza -5-8- One of the oldest pizzerias in NYC and wonderful stuff. The plain first of all - was a delight. Great sauce, crispness, and classic NY style that I dearly love. And then their specials being the jerk, and the pork krapow. The Jerk was just decent to me as I just felt the flavor came and left pretty quickly with mainly meatiness coming through. But the krapow blew my mind because thai basil on pizza is great and the slight sweetness, earthiness, and mintiness compliments the jalapeno and roni on top of the juicy sauce. @hotspizzanyc -9- Super new spot and super interesting what they’re doing. The dough had an almost rough (not in a bad way) texture so some people liked it on a varying scale and that’s perfectly fine. The spicy vodka had good spice and flavor but was a bit less creamy than I was expecting. And the pineapple (yes I love pineapple pizza) was pureed and layered in which was something completely different and new. I loved the first half but as I kept going the sweetness got too much for me. BUT, someone else loved that it got sweeter. So I do enjoy this contrast in the opinions. This may not be your favorite new pizzeria but I say go ahead and try them because they’re experimenting and doing cool things here North Dumpling -10- $4.50 for 10 pork and chive dumplings. Need I say more? #food #pizza #eats #nycfood #foodnyc

Late Mar-Aprl #Eats-  1 - @kyoto.yakiton.nabeya - From Japan to #NYC for a one day popup at JapanFes - And it WAS good. But their main advertised option was an omakase style: 4 skewers for $30. At $7.50 a skewer, there are so many better options in NYC. I guess the price of the flight was also baked into it because their Kyoto spot is like $1 a skewer. The pieces were tender and texturally what they should’ve been on a grill - belly, tongue, stomach, heart. But there was something missing - Beer. This is very salt heavy, and it needed a beer pairing The pork belly though was absolutely delicious with the juicy peppers eating away at the saltiness. The stomach was sauced with teriyaki, the tongue with yakiniku sauce. So yes, there were flavors beyond the salt, but again, I needed a beer with this 2-3 @losersnyc x @rhus4u - The cheese feels so interwoven on the sourdough that each bite feels like a heavily packed in mozzarella stick or really good cheesebread. Light and fluffy as Losers does, and then underneath all that savory cheese is a delightful zesty tangy earthy blend of yummy za’atar. I personally had a few bites and brought it home to eat with some NM red chili and loved it even more because the acidity brings out a good cheese bread 4-11 - @imdonut.nyc - Flavorwise - most of these donuts are kind of bland to me. Texture wise - very airy and fun but I need both flavor and texture. Like the original and chocolate and sake cream and royal milk tea was bland The anchovy cheese broke my brain. It had the briny savory flavor of anchovy with a savory creamy blend of cheeses and I don’t compute The only donut I liked was the zaku-zaku because the crunchy candied nuts with the dulce de leche created a lightly savory, but sweet sticky blend on the top of a fluffy bread 12-20- @spicylanka - An ensemble of goodies. No details, just terrible pics of the following because it was more of a festive celebration of amazing food and friends: Shrimp Kothu,Mutton Lamprais,Deviled Seafood,Fish Lankan, Beef Lankan, Black Pork Rice & Curry, King Fish Rice & Curry, Batticaica Oxtail Soup Dessert:Kiri Pani,Ceylon Falooda,Watalappan #food #foodnyc #supportlocal

@brisketkingnyc 3/3 -This was so much fun and so much going on, I’m sorry to people who I got distracted mid-conversation with, or booths I missed. But I thank everyone that showed up to make this an awesome brisket bash @wildwoodsbbq -1-3-People’s Choice-Their brisket was already just delicious:great cook and seasoned just enough to get meaty without being overwhelmed. But the real star for me is their burger because this was easily one of the top burgers I’ve had. Super succulent meat but balanced with fresh bread,a creamy dijon aioli, and just melt in your mouth goodness @archiemooresnh -4-5-I love french dips in general and this one really rocked. This beauty had a good dunk in some smoked au jus so prepare to get messy. But the brisket, onions, and smoked provolone were welded together into one amazing bite that I could not stop eating. There are a lot of french dips out here, some people even wait in lines for, but none of them are smoked like this @kimchismoke -6-9-Party Like a Wokstar Award-The tallow chili crisp, super tender smokey brisket, and the noodles blended so perfectly together in my heart and stomach into an amazing bite. It doesn’t feel oily but instead a super slurpable noodle that had just enough greens and seasonings to also give it an earthy tantalizing bite every second with the brisket @fireandsmokebbqny -10-11-Holy Ravioli Batman Award-A super crispy ravioli filled with brisket. And I loved every bite especially with the parm dust and a brisket ragu underneath! The only shame is that I was too full to stuff myself with 15 more @mikeshothoney ft. @kitchentime_kev -12-14- The brisket itself was great BUT the bodega boss sandwich was dynamite. The new school melt drizzled on the sandwich made it very creamy, melty, and gooey making it a brisket sammie to remember especially with those tallow caramelized onions on a very tasty roll @brothersbarbecue -15-18-2026 BRISKET KINGS -I should’ve tried the brisket alone but the sandwich was superb as the fried shallots and slaw gave it a great bite in taste and texture. Then a dash of sauce to for the sweet acidity to cut through the fat. @tipsyscoop -19-Yummy #food #nyc #bbq #eats #nycbbq

@brisketkingnyc 2/3 - I imagine it would be even tougher for the judges if our 2024 winner could've made it (things happened). But we still cheer for them as they open a new spot in Stamford soon! @morgansbrooklynbbq -1-3- The crowd pleaser of every NYC BBQ event because no matter what - they deliver. Super yummy brisket, slaw, bread and a dash of mustard hiding to really rev you up. Just an all around satisfying bite. @dinosaur_bbq -4-5- It’s a signature dinosaur brisket. There doesn’t need to be frills or thrills (I took it no sauce, a la Texas style). And it holds well on its own, just a great brisket rendered extremely well and with the basic seasonings to showcase that the meat and technique of the pitmaster and chefs aren't lacking. Also visit them in Harlem because their BK location is closing @crossroadsque -6-7-Best Dish - Brisket crab rangoon. I know all of yall would pop 20 of these easy. Crispy crunchy outside, creamy brisket inside. What’s not to love besides not having 30 of these waiting for you after a long day? @kamraithai -8-10-Best Runner Up Dish - I need to break it down because this was a treat: I suspect the golden rice was a take on Khao Man Gai where the chicken fat and juices are rendered in the rice creating a beautiful golden glow. And then a small amount of seasoning is mixed in as well to create this refreshing herb taste at the end And the brisket is true to style, but the take on Nam Jim Talay stood out as it has less fish sauce but a bit more sweetness to really help the brisket level up with a very light acidic sauce that creates a wonderland of flavors @okcharleys -11-13- Runner Up - Brisket Pastranh-mi! Awesome use of @achilles_heat smoked chili crisp to level up this banh mi with great smoked heat. Super tender and delicious pastrami on a baguette, with very creative hoisin-dijon bacon pate which was awesome, and the slaw and pickles were just right for the balance to bring out that signature banh mi bite @barkandbrinebbq -14-15- Smoked brisket sandwich with slaw and sauce. Classic, simple, delicious, and all around just a pleasure to enjoy and munch on 16-18-Drinks!! #bbq #food #nycbbq #eats #foodnyc

@brisketkingnyc 1/x - As always in the order I eat them in - and this was insanely close for the winners run so that means I won by eating it all @smoke_sweats -1-4- Made Tony Proud Award - And that they did (and I had to get a pic of the award table). The brisket itself was delicious, especially when you bite into a fatty piece coated in their putain powder and the flavor all blends together in one succulent bite ranging from salty, peppery, earthy, herby, savory before melting back into a brisket on the after taste. And the bourguignon was no exception either as the nokedli added a great chew and a hearty broth good for any time, any day @cattlenyc -5-6- Definitely on my radar now because I worked nearby this whole time and never knew of them. Very fun “sushi” with a potato croquette base and creamy avocado sauce on a well seasoned brisket. They are very creative but each ingredient stands out on its own rights - so yes the bite was awesome @virgilsrealbbq -7-9- A soft tasty pita pocket stuffed with brisket, baba ganoush, and red onions. They leaned into a creative middle eastern-esque brisket dish and I really enjoyed how the earthy, minty flavors played with the slaw into one tender sandwich @gigicurryandnoodlebar -10-13- Excellent Newbie Award - Khao Soi Brisket! They did a wonderful job in showcasing a smoked tender brisket in a lightly spicy but heavily spiced curry sauce. Kudos to them for giving the brisket a great tender texture, while also not breaking down in the curry. The greens definitely helped to freshen you up too. Also the booth next to them had craft thai beers which I loved @juicy_lucy_bbq -14-16- They are the best reason to go to SI, and soon Brooklyn! This was my “I can’t believe they didn’t get an award” moment because I freaking loved their corned beef brisket (and banana pudding of course). They have the Texas art of stopping just before the seasoning is too much because it's not overpowering and doesn't give you a salt burn. It’s crazy how delicate of a balance they always strike, and I cannot rave enough about how such a bite that looks simple at first could be so world changing 17-19- Drinks! #food #nyc #nycbbq #eats #bbq

Other April Eats - 1- @kobeque.nyc - Located inside Food Gallery 32. This is a tough one because the beef was good, the sides were just alright. But the rice, aka the easiest thing to make, was super super dry. Like plain white rice should not have been that crunchy. 2- @mamabunnktown - The spicy pork bun itself was good. I just didn’t have any particular feelings on the slaw that was just one giant blob on top. 3-4- Hướng Xuân - Formerly known as Thái Sơn - Really good local viet spot. This is not a destination but great if you’re in the mood for it and nearby. I personally felt that the Chả giò (pork + veggie spring roll) had a bit too much breading in comparison to the inside. But it was still decent. But the Mực chiên giòn (calamari) was on point, simple seasoning on the squid so you don’t lose it. And to contrast the fried batter, it’s paired with yummy veggies that feel absolutely refreshing. And lastly the fat bowl of Phố which they hae an even bigger option for $1.20 more. Tons of meat, noodles, and the broth was very rich and comforting. Just a lovely family run spot in which I used google to copy and paste the dish names because I don’t know how to do the accent marks. 5-6- @disosnyc - Giant delicious sandwich! The godfather I got was the size of my arm, so I had half a sandwich for lunch and half a sandwich for dinner. But it has all the things I liked - chicken cutlet, prosciutto, salami, mozz, marinara, cherry peppers, ricotta, pesto, broccoli rabe - AND you can actually taste and feel each ingredient melding into one giant moment of happiness. Nothing gets lost and the bread soaks up the pesto and juices so well. 7- Biryani Cart on 6th - I normally like them because their rice is very seasoned and it gives a fair portion for $10. This time though, I only had like 3 pieces of chicken, like the rice was still very good but bruh. First time this has happened in the multiple times I’ve ordered from them. Kati roll was still solid though. #food #nyc #eats #eatlocal #supportlocal

@queensnightmarket is back ! Preview night ($5 cover) was great! 1-2- @baezflavorco - Newcomer and rocking it. Tons of sauces on the side, and I opted for their spicy (which wasn't really but it had a great acidity and tang for the meats). Just yummy pig ear and fried pork 3- @treatyourselfjerk - I love them every year and this is no exception. Just very tasty jerk chicken, seasoned rice, and top notch sauces. 4- @ggcuisinedelights - Panama food! Fried bread is literally one of humanity's loves, and the cilantro sauce, and the tamarind sauce both hit with their salchipapa - oh which is quality sausage 5- @kathmandumasalasticks - Solid fried chickens, although I did have a hiccup here - NOT anything against them as this was the preview night and I hope they resolved their issues going forward. But simply fried chicken, salted and glazed 6- @pizzabagel.nyc - They're taking over NYC by a storm and are still getting the word out by being at QNM. Soft and slightly crispy with all the sauces being soaked into the dough and therefore I like 7-8- @sampaguitaeats - Really good pork tapa silog. Overwhelming amounts of flavor through the sweet garlic marinade. Absolutely demolished this and then chugged some buko pandan down. 9-10- @soronko_kitchen_and_bakery - Beef meat pie was super good. Buttery flaky light pastry dough and seasoned beef inside. A classic combo that works and I only wish I had some hot sauce because I'm a freak 11- @dadiskababs - a very deliciously well seasoned slow cooked beef and lentil patty. I especially loved their sauce combo, although I could've done without the top bun personally. Still, I'd get them again and again. 12- @sharq.kitchen - First off - this bread is really good. The power of a sesame bread with a hotdog is understated. But solid sausage, potato sticks are yummy in contrast to the pickled veggies. All in all, you will get full off this alone. 13- My yearly bing fen fix from an unknown vendor 14 - @hellomoonman - Had the get to go because these desserts are always peak. But so was I and so I had them the next day. Still super good as is Everytime I've had them. 10/10 would. #food #nyc #queensnightmarket #queens #eats

Queens Eats this month -  Within LIC HMart -  @ddukdabang_official -1- I’ve never made buldak with all these ingredients so it was a fun change. Although the spicy option wasn’t spicy which felt odd to me (or maybe just ingredient dilution to the heat). But its a much sweeter buldak because of the sweet corn and cheese but I liked it overall since it still had buldak's signature savory kick to it. @kyodongnoodle   -2- The jjampong was solid. A fair amount of clams and one prawn and cut up squid. Not spicy despite how red it was but it was pretty tasty especially in a fat bowl. The tansuyuk was just okay to me. Like the sweet and sour sauce just didn’t hit, it was more sweet to me than anything. The fried pork itself was fine so I took that home and reheated it in other sauces.  @101chickenusa -3- The hot and spicy had a nice light tingle of heat. And it honestly had really good flavor - it had a bit of that gochujang taste with the earthiness of black sesame and I enjoyed it even while cold. @purpledoughs -4- To me - the OG Filipino-American dessert and bakery. I should’ve taken individual shots but I just wanted to dive in because their flavors are delicious and their textures are on point. Fresh filled cannoli, very soft and fluffy leche flan, and fun donut flavors that live up to their flavors. Would recommend especially since they moved to a larger spot in the recent times so you can sit, chill, have some halo halo with friends. @khing.nyc -5-8- Absolutely love this Thai spot in Woodside. BBQ Pork - Tender, soft, BBQ glazed goodness and served with fish sauce based chili sauce. Sausage Fried Rice - I mean it’s fried rice with sausage. Simple and delicious. What I liked was that it was very rounded in the flavor when most fried rices I get tend to be overly salty, oily, or sauced a bit too much. This was just well balanced and almost had a homemade kind of taste to me. Massaman Pot Pie - This is just a solid massaman curry, but inside a bowl with roti canai cover. So overall, just normal but I don’t hate it just because I like both those things and it's a funny way to present it. #food #queens #nyc #eats #fat
