This @kelseywaldon X @newfrontierbrand collab is quite a catch!
I've been fishing maybe once in my life so it was fun to work on a project where I could learn things!

It's here y'all! I had SO MUCH FUN working on this mural for @visitbardstown . I will never tire of illustrating this beautiful town and My Old Kentucky Home. I can't tell you how honored I am to have been of help. Also, please enjoy that cobblestone path. I worked for days on that. 😂

A friend requested an illustration to go with one of his Substack posts about Derby. He thought it would be fun to do something in the vein of my Breathtaking America stamps from a while back. I obliged.
I may have my qualms about Churchill Downs, but I will always love Kentucky's crown jewel. This is our opportunity to show the world our boundless beauty and charm.

New work for @graysoncjenkins and (and @nicholasjamerson )! Do go give them both a listen and follow if you don't already!

This one's a little different, maudlin, but something I felt compelled to express. So much of our world has changed in the past years. For many of us, I figure the heaviest blows are to those things that seemed untouchable, timeless. I still love the Derby, or rather the idea of it. I still watch the race and flippantly make my picks, but the tradition to which I felt connected is missing. I mean no disrespect to anyone to whom disrespect isn't warranted.
It can be easy to shrug and just keep doing what we've always done, put on a happy face, but is that the best course of action? Hunter stated that "honesty is not polite; it is necessary." I have done my part.
Oh, the illustrations here were inspired by the delightful two-color work of Charley Harper in Betty Crocker's Dinners for Two Cookbook.

Do you have a favorite flower?
Mine has been the iris for as long as I can remember. I think it was the color variation that drew me at first, but when I learned Iris was the goddess of the rainbow, well, the deal was sealed. They also smell so good, one of the only flowers I'll sniff knowing I'll be sneezing later. Worth it.
I thought it might be fun to do a new portrait; it's been a while.

Been a while since I posted some old wallpapers I find in the wild. These were all snapped at estate sales. Enjoy!

Riders up!
Derby is almost here and what better time to upgrade your cap game. This one, in both navy and green bill options, from @newfrontierbrand is a sure thing! They're always fun to work with and if it's horse related, that's a bonus.

If you guessed some of the foods aboard Artemis II, you're right! I may have been inspired by the floating jar of Nutella. Imagine orbiting the moon to the smells of BBQ brisket and maple syrup. What food would you take to space?

I've talked before about my affection for vintage wallpaper, whether or not I'd actually USE wallpaper. A while ago, I saw the U.S.S. Constitution Americana wallpaper online (third image). I couldn't stop thinking about the energy and color. As always, the motifs, translated into somewhat blobby, bleeding shapes, layers and layers of ink are like candy to me.
Enter the 250th birthday of the United States. I figured there was no better theme for a Constitution-style piece. Of course, I would love to do a full wallpaper, but I couldn't spare that much time. Why not a bandana? It gave me a reason to try out a new custom brush. I think it works!
I've seen Americana/bicentennial wallpaper (and other things) in person at estate sales and it always makes me smile. What a time that had to be. I love what I do and I love my beautiful country. I hope that always comes through in my creations.

I was making sauce the other day and tossed some bay leaves in the pot. I counted one, two, three. As @lidiabastianich says, count when they go in so you know how many to remove when your food is ready.
Thanks to Lidia's videos, I've become a lot more confident with my cooking. Her rustic, but elegant methods combined with the comforting charm is just what a home cook needs to up their game! When my delicious sauce was done (and I removed the three bay leaves), I decided I'd do up a monoline portrait to say grazie!
