Are you working today on the maintenance of the cult that's gonna end the Old World and birth a new, monstrous one?

I like Fielder to be honest, but I think he's good as an entertainer: he plays with the specific codes of reality programs, and the cunning way to deal with this is where lies his strength. With that being said, I think there's an overtheorization of popular media that seems to come from academics/artists/young people and so well-identified intellectuals that more than uncovering a deeper reading, it points to an impoverished general approach to aesthetics. I love comics, videogames, cartoons and all of that, but focusing your whole relation to art with that series you play after a long day's work won't make you many wonders. It is incresingly comical when it comes from so self-called "thinkers" that approach Hegel or Kant as they do with Sandman and Watchman

Currently in love with Octavia Butler's writing. Some of her concerns certainly overlap with Le Guin's pacifist utopias. But there's a key element that makes Xenogenesis even more ambiguous than the Ekumen: the Oankali are humanoids. They are humanoids, but alien enough to provoke an abjective and panicked reaction from humans. They seek for the safety of other species, but they forcefully have to share their genes with them. From a certain biological determinism, Butler raises a lot of questions regarding domination, sovereignity, what is being human in an impactful form. Also, still thinking in the comparison, there is a sort of survival, driving aspect of life that Butler puts into words perfectly. This is particularly evident in Dawn, where the protagonist struggles to adapt to her new environment and struggles with her idea as the future mother of the interspecies breeding of humans and aliens

The weaponization of Deleuze's, Derrida's and Foucault's philosophy in order to caricaturize marxist stances and organizations is gonna be felt in global politics for decades. The boogeyman created around Marx's image, even inside leftist or academic spaces, is an incalculable loss. For a long time I've always intuitevely felt that the rejection of a macro, infrastructural approach was the fruit of decades of Welfare State and a somewhat more "equalitarian" democratic government. Out of Europe and the US, none of us lived through that, which is one of the many reasons why Marxist-inspired movements and groups never ceased to exist over here.
