Love this mid 30’s double bound, Model 27 square neck that belongs to my friend Amelia Brown. She got it from Tim Graves, who did a great job setting it up. This is one of the best pre-war dobros I’ve ever heard. Will post a sound clip soon.

A mid-19th-century Civil War song. Here's one called "Lorena" on the dobro and acoustic guitar.
History: This song was a Civil War era sensation, written in the 1860s. It was so beloved that some commanders banned it, fearing it made soldiers too homesick.

I am always slow to try “new—to me—technology.” This Christmas, I played a few Christmas events with songs I really like to use alternate tunings on. Didn’t want to take multiple resonator guitars so I just played them in DBGDBG when I really didn’t want to. Decided it was time to try the Hipshot. Wish I hadn’t waited so long. I LOVE it! I also love the tone the guitar has with the tailpiece and roller nut! Thanks to all of you who recommended it and to @byrl_guitars for the great installation.
