I can’t believe I’m 50. The phrase time flies is an understatement because I still carry so many memories with me as if it were yesterday. But here’s to my year in 50. #fckitim50 #nifty50 #itsyourbirthday
I’m excited for today’s panel. Black-led media is working to help inform and empower communities and reclaim our narrative. We are speaking truth to power. #blackmediamatters
We got to spend some time talking with @simplyjiquanda from @flintbeat . We talked about being a creative in the city, being an entrepreneur, and shared our general love for Flint! Flint is so much more than most people are aware of.
I just want to say thank you to @perci.whitmore for putting us on the radar. Last year, I found out that Flint Beat is the first woman-founded news organization serving the City of Flint. Yep, and that woman happens to be Blackity Black!!! #blackhistorymonth #womanfounded #makinghistory #buildinglegacy #jiquanda #jiquandajohnson #storyteller #news
A 2026 goal of mine is to read three books a month. Now, let me be very transparent. I read a lot. I just don’t do it with a certain intention. This is purposeful. Here are my January reads starting from the bottom with what I’m reading right now. Hmmm, I wonder if I can relaunch my series chatting it up with Black authors. We will see. #abetterme #beintentional #jiquanda #notesfromablackgirl #blackgirlexploring #blackgirlsread
I’ve seen Amy Sherald’s work in photos, but standing in front of American Sublime felt different — grounding, familiar.
It reminded me of the stories I carry and why I keep choosing myself, even in this season of change.
This visit meant something to me.

It took me a long time to find myself and I’m still a work in progress. At 49, I learn something new about myself damn near everyday. This journey really didn’t start until 2021. I was 45!!!! Some days I feel like I don’t have time to waste. I have to run through every door and seize every opportunity. I’m moving at warp speed!!! Today, I decided that it’s ok to slow down and enjoy the journey that I’m on. Life is too short to speed past everything in overdrive. #documentarian #filmmaker #jiquandajohnson #chasing50 #blackfilmmaker #brownimpactmediagroup #mylife #chasingdreams #igotthis
