Usually people see him as someone who has everything in his life together. However, he, like everyone else, has fears. In this production, he was inspired by the transition moments in our lives which give uncertainty and fear. Sometimes, these moments aren't apparent and we just live through them. Regardless, it's the transition moments in our lives that often define the trajectory of our future. How we respond to the fear of transition either consciously or unconsciously has a lasting impact. He is about to embark on an 8 year journey in a new state to become a MD/PhD doctor. A transition~~ . . Some of which may be successful while a handful could mean failure. Sitting at 25 years old, climbing through life’s boulders, and struggling to find lunch on a daily basis, Peter Nguyen balances the dichotomy between his thin optimism and natural pessimism. Every minute spent thinking means another worry weighing down the already agitated mind. His dance style is a reflection of that. A combination of popping, tiny fidgety movements, some strange isolated shoulder roll, and the occasional Joey-influenced floorwork. If you ever commented on why he’s so tense, it’s probably because he was stressing about something completely unrelated. Peter tackles these worries by promoting strong decision making, meaning not giving a chance to hesitate or everything could fall apart. Understanding that life is a pool of moments and letting moments pass is a mistake. Because you end up valuing distance over depth rather than depth over distance. This is his process. Mathew Leung is a 23 year old dancer/choreographer, born and raised in the Bay Area. Starting his dance journey back in 2013 with the Hip Hop Dance Club at SJSU, he quickly fell in love with dance and movement and wanted to learn more about the community. In 2015, he joined VIPSJ, where it not only gave him the foundation for movement, but also the passion and drive to further develop his ideals and individuality. It wasn’t until summer of 2018 however, where Archive Dance Collective showed him what it truly meant to dance with intention and authenticity. With this philosophy, it has attributed to the successes and development of @Commonality.sj , the team he founded with Dillon Nguyen, Vira Phan, Anthony Daste, Ally Tran, and BJ Querubin. . .
