Our Founder, Simone Atkins-Bostic, was able to speak this weekend at the Hip-Hop Summit, brought by
@_blakkliberation @_siriusb_ &
@pslcharlotte 🎤
The purpose of her talk was informing people of the importance of the intersectionality between the arts, building community, and creating societal change 💫
In today’s world, there’s so much going on internationally that we need to create spaces that we can learn from and educate ourselves on how to rebuild our villages 🌍
The power of Hip-Hop within the Black community stems from moments in Black history like the Harlem Renaissance; where many Black painters, poets, writers, anthropologists and more emerged and uplifted Black American culture 🎨
It’s important to continue to pass along these parts of the past, so that we can reflect on the present and make the proper change for the future 🙏🏾
Being able to connect to the youth and allow them to understand that their purpose matters was the best part, and we hope to continue to be part of spaces like this more in the future ☺️
@sab.creativeacademy got to bring back out the Cuban flag, for guests to add to, from a previous Noche Cubana event with
@pslcharlotte , that helped raised $1000 for medical supplies in Cuba! 🇨🇺
Overall art helps connect our understanding and allows people to understand from different perspectives visually and in the words of the amazing Nina Simone: “It is an artist duty to reflect the times”.
Remember that and keep going 💪🏾
