Tuffy | 12/31/2011 - 9/6/2025 On Saturday, we had to say goodbye to our beloved big boy Tuffy. I really didn't think I'd have to type this again just two months after losing Jozzee. But much like her, he was just as big of a part in giving us the best years of our lives. After Jozzee's passing, he carried the torch for our little family for as long as he could, and for that I will be forever grateful. Tuffy was such a character and everyone who ever met him, will attest that he absolutely loved people. @sandyxsludge used to joke that he'd be the world's worst security dog, because when ever someone new entered our house, Tuffy wanted to be their best friend immediately. His tail was almost constantly wagging, to the point that one of his many nicknames became Tuffy Tailwags. He was just happy to be around you and always wanted to be included in everything you did, no matter how mundane it may have been. At the same time, he loved his independence and you would find him just snoozing or sunbathing on his own in random rooms across the many houses and apartments we have lived in over time. Tuffy went in high spirits, but despite being such a tank, his body gave out on him on Friday. I'm sure he had given us as many extra miles as he possibly could and he was such a fighter, his tail wagged until his very last moments. Because of that, letting him go feels especially unfair. If you asked him, he would have never been ready. And while that makes it especially hard right now, it will hopefully turn into a beautiful, final memory over time. Losing the companionship, routines and lively atmosphere both Tuffy and Jozzee brought to our family and household is truly soul-crushing. I can say with certainty that I have never felt this deep level of grief before. And while we may work through that over time, the sorrow of losing half of our family so fast will probably never quite go away. Tuffy, I hope you're reunited with Jozzee and that you both come visit us in our dreams. We love and miss you so, so much. Thank you for everything. Until we meet again... 🖤

Jozzee | ?/?/???? - 7/4/2025 Yesterday we had to say goodbye to our precious little girl Jozzee. She gave us the best years of our lives and I feel so lucky and grateful to have shared such a deep bond with her. @sandyxsludge and Jozzee found each other when she was wandering around an apartment complex in Tampa, FL in April 2010, skinny and skittish. Sandy gained her trust, took her in and thankfully, no one else claimed her. I had the privilege to join her family in 2012, but I had to work for it. Jozzee must have not had it easy before Sandy found her, because she was clearly scared around men. I wanted to be nothing but a source of safety and affection for her and could tell she wanted to be able to trust me. Within a couple of weeks, we were inseparable and I'm so blessed for her allowing that to happen. Jozzee moved houses and states with us more than once, we went to all the dog beaches in Florida and later on trips through the beautiful PNW together, she beat cancer twice (!) and ultimately gifted us the happiest and best life for 15 years. In recent weeks, she was letting us know that she was tired. Her little body had been through a lot in the last couple of years and she had pulled through so much for and with us. Doing the right thing was hard in ways I can't even begin to describe, but we had to let her get some much deserved rest. Jozzee fell asleep peacefully here at home. She will be missed so much by her mom, dad, her brother Tuffy and many who have met her. I hope she has the sweetest dreams and that we're all in it. We love you for ever, litte JJ. Thank you for everything. ❤️

Ripping some very appropriate drop D riffage (and making the appropriate face) on a guitar that is coincidentally a middle ground of both of @pagehamilton_ 's ESP signatures: The LTD MT-I. Coming to a pedal demo near you... 📷 by @sandyxsludge #espguitars #ltdguitars #helmetband #slipknot

1. More or less recent additions to the collection. Swipe for an individual caption for each record! DEADGUY - Fixation on a Coworker LP
Trans Pink w/ Black Splatter Popgun Records This album is a stone cold classic in the small world of chaotic and bleak Metallic Hardcore, alongside such legends as Converge, Botch or even Today is the Day. Ya know, sometimes I can't help myself and feel like Hardcore was a couple steps ahead (musically) of even today, and this album is a perfect example of that. If you don't know it, well go and enjoy this bastard now! @nightmarercult were actually supposed to play with Deadguy at @nwterrofest last week, but unfortunately they had to cancel. What a shame, I hope I'll get another chance to see them. #deadguy #fixationonacoworker #popgunrecords 2. AT THE GATES - The Ghost of a Future Dead LP Trans Orange w/ Red Smoke
Century Media Records A record so nice, I bought it twice (a rare exception nowadays). I already posted about this one a couple of posts back, so go and revisit that for a deeper dive into the album. All I can say is, even a couple of weeks in, I still think this is a great album and I'm stilly spinning it pretty often. It doesn't really get less emotional either. I'll probably let go of one of my copies soon, I just liked this one so much. It's like the nicest and equally least rare color variant, I believe. Also a rare exception. #atthegates #theghostofafuturedead #centurymedia 3. BONG.RA - Esoterik 12" Orange / Black Marble Debemur Morti Still firmly on their Industrial Metal trip, Bong.Ra did it again. 'Black.Noise' was really cool already and I think I like 'Esoterik' even more. I don't wanna use the same, old comparisons, but compared to the last album, this feels more Jesu-y than Godflesh-y. And that's a good thing! The vibes are strong with this one. #bongra #esoterik #debemurmorti 4. LUNG KNOTS - Golden Dirges, Molten Larynges LP Grey Marble Tartarus Records One of my favorite things @nebulousblur has ever done, besides the Fawn Limbs album I was allowed to master a couple of years ago. This is in no way a comparison, but if you like Author & Punisher (as in electronic music with a certai

R.I.P. Tompa. What a great final work to add to your legacy! AT THE GATES - The Ghost of a Future Dead LP Transparent Black Ice /500 Century Media Easily the band's best album since 'At War With Reality' and, in my opinion, one that greatly contributes to their legacy. 'Slaughter of the Soul' was one of the first extreme Metal records I ever got into, so At the Gates do have a special place in my heart. Some of the material on here is your classic At the Gates stuff, and you love to hear it. But there are also moments of greater, more expansive melodic depth that I really enjoy. Well, you know the lore around the album is a sad one. Tompa recorded his vocals on a single day before entering treatment and sadly is no longer with us to reap the fruits of his labor. I hope he knew he did such a great job... 🫡 #atthegates #theghostofafuturedead #slaughterofthesoul #atwarwithreality #deathmetal

Another Reverb comeup from a few months ago that @forencichguitars took care of for me: This is my 2nd 90s ESP Horizon-II bass and unlike my pearl white one, it comes with the much desirable quirks. First off, the squishy headstock logo has got to be my favorite ESP logo ever. And then there's the - what I like to call - "Hoffmeister Kink" at the end of the fretboard (my fellow BMW nerds will know exactly what I'm referring to). What possessed ESP to load this bass with all these quirks? We may never know, but I really appreciate the experimental nature of what they were doing in the 90s. Do I need to remind you of my Quasor? Didn't think so... Anyway, this thing arrived in rough (!) condition. Parts of the binding were coming loose, corroded hardware, finish cracks, stripped screws all over the place, you name it. All that made this unusually inexpensive and thankfully, it cleaned up quite well. Do I wish my white Horizon bass had all these quirks instead? Sure! But I'm glad that after years of searching, I finally came across another one I could afford... WITH the quirkiness this time around. #espguitars #espbass #esphorizon #4string #metalbass

Got my 1991 Les Paul Studio Lite back from @forencichguitars and it's such a player now! What's new? -TonePros bridge & tailpiece -Hipshot locking tuners -Hapas Nightmær set -GraphTech TUSQ nut -Amber top hat knobs I immediately felt this guitar's potential when I picked it off the wall at Guitar Center's used section, but man, it was such a mess. The slim taper neck is what ultimately sold me, but there was something else to it that I just couldn't quite put my finger on. I suppose I have a soft spot for the less orthodox or popular Les Pauls out there. First the BFG, now this... at least these aren't expensive, but both punch way above their tier now that they are all upgraded. Travis did a great job turning this from a massively chewed up mess into an absolute ripper. It's fun to play and sounds big and chunky. I had it set up in B standard for Crowbar riffage. Videos coming your way soon! #gibsonguitar #lespaul #lespaulstudio #gibsonlespaul #crowbarband

Still the best pointy I ever played, still one of the best guitars I own: The @radicalinstrumentproducts Star Destroyer. I did convert it to an active pickup circuit and am finding myself not enjoying the EMG81X quite as much as I did at first. The "chirp" of the pick attack is the main thing I can't ever unhear, but in the room the pickup also sounds a bit more dull to me than all my favorite passives. I will keep the guitar as is, because it never hurts to have an EMG81-loaded guitar around, but when it comes down to it, all roads lead back to passives for me. #radicalinstrumentproducts #pointyguitars #emg81 #metalguitar #sepultura

Cleaned and restrung the RIP Star Destroyer for a quick demo of the new @cult.fx splatter finish SNK VHD. It's such a great sounding preamp/distortion pedal and takes boost/OD pedals so well, so I ran the acid-etched Highwind Direwolf into it to make it a bit more tight and crisp. You know where to find both pedals if you like what you're hearing... #snkpedals #highwindamplification #radicalinstrumentproducts #cultfx

Scully was bred to be a racer, but life had other plans for her. Countless retired racing greyhounds are looking for a home. They're amazing dogs that deserve a happy, better life and they will give you a lot in return. Here in the PNW, we went through @gpanorthwest . Most states have dedicated greyhound adoption groups. Look them up and rescue a hound! #greyhound #greyhoundsofinstagram #greyhoundsofig #portland #pnw
