I’ve just published a new Substack entry about one of my favourite conditions to photograph in — fog and morning mist.
A bit about why I’m so drawn to it, how it changes the way I see and photograph the world, and a few thoughts on atmosphere, patience and slowing down.
You can find it through the link in my stories and here /pub/simonmigaj/p/my-two-favourite-weather-phenomenons

Moody blue hour at the Kvalvika Beach on the Lofoten Islands, Norway
To this day it's my favourite beach, always quiet, just the gentle sound of crashing waves. I've been there three times now and I can't wait to go back and enjoy another sunset like this

Early morning in Kyoto
Traveling with a six month old introduced a lot of challenges and compromises, one of them being no sunsets due to bed time. That meant loads of early mornings for at least a bit of good light at sunrise and a very tired dad. Images like this, with just a couple walking, no crowds, were improving the experience quite a bit. Taken with the Leica M11 and Summilux 50mm asph

Little pleasures: a morning walk in the mist. #Poland 2025
I love this little corner. There's always something happening in that back yard. By now I probably have more then thirty photos of this place.
