So sad to hear the news of Herbie Flowers’ passing. There are people you meet in life whose soul lights up everything around them. Herbie was not only the most solid bass player you ever heard, he was a gent, hilarious and a great raconteur. The stories he told were forged in the very foundation of the British music industry. There was probably nobody he hadn’t played with at some point in an incredible career. I was lucky enough to work with Herbie on several tours of Jeff Wayne’s War of the Worlds arena shows. Herbie, along with Chris Spedding, were both on the original 1978 release and played in the band. Our son Harry came to the show a few times and Herbie took the time to show him how to play the iconic bass line from the Horsell Common section. A small Harry made Herbie’s original 50’s Fender bass look huge. In this picture he’s just said something suitably inappropriate much to the amusement of Becky Pell and I. Herbie we all love you. I hope there’s a Rombout’s or two wherever you may be now. Big love to Clare who must be staring in to a Herbie shaped hole right now.

The Great Leslie Band just great energy and big tunes. Had fun at Henley Festival with them - so much so I actually bought the record! Check them out #guitars #bigrock #nextbigthing

Right in the centre of #henleyfestival you’ll find the #RISE stage. RISE is a charity created to offer exposure to unsigned artists and the stage is run by production students from places like LIPA, East Sussex College and others. It’s a brilliant scheme and the talent on display is superb. Check out @katyatheartist , @edenhunter , Datura Roots Collective for starters

Fantasy grandparents on #plymouth Hoe last night. Superb stuff. Blondie were more engaging and energised than I remember and Debbie was hilarious. Sting was impeccable. Sounded great despite the choice of PA…! And Dominic Miller, oh lordy. Nice one everybody.

£5 from a bonkers shop in Totnes. I was always intrigued by this band, and now I understand why - the drum sound is epic! Otherwise…

Just leave this here. KJ show in Shenzen Concert Hall with an incredible Steinway piano, signed by some of the world’s greatest players. Only #DPA Microphones will do.
