On September 22nd we lost the last piece to our puzzle. It still feels unreal. We always think we have more time but the harsh reality of “you never know” hit us so hard and so fast. Life will never be the same without you Darius. I can still hear you now “Monie get your sisters” cuz they was always wildin out lol. We’ve always bonded over how much alike we are and because we’re real head strong and have the same sense of humor. I know you’re not in pain anymore and for that I am so grateful. But the pain in my chest when I think of you feels like it’s never gonna go away. If I never said it enough I hope you knew how much I loved you in this life and still love you in the next. Forever our 4/4 . My baby. The piece that made us whole. We will never be the same. 💔

I started this post over so many times. Each time deleting it because it felt like posting made it really real & there’s so many things I could say about all that she was to me and our community. I met Anna as community leader and Culture Shock legend in 2009. I now know her as a friend, a big sister, AUNTIE YODA, and a mentor. I never understood why yall took me under your wing so willingly. & i know I’m so annoying every few months saying how shocked I am I made it in the group chat! But let me tell yall, 19 year old me would have never evaaaaaa thought I could call you guys , you, my friend one day. I’m gonna miss our back row kiki’s and yelling “fuck it up Annnaaaa!!!” In Sean’s class. I’m gonna miss Tuesday talks on the balcony. I’m gonna miss our Aries check ins when we mad at the same shit in group chats lollll. (because why are we always mad at something?! 🤣) Who’s gonna remind me that I’m seen and heard. Who am I gonna call to vent about ShowOut too and ask how TF you been doing BodyRock this long 🤣….. Only for you to laugh at me and say “Simone you got this girl”. You walked me through so many frustrations. You listened to every idea. You mentioned my name in rooms that opened the door for many opportunities. You always looked out for me. You were all the beautiful and sweet things everyone is saying. But my favorite part about you was the unapologetic Anna. The boss ass , strong ass, resilient ass leader and woman that you were. You mentored me through dance, show production, life and not giving a f**k. Respectfully 🤣 So all I can say is thank you. For loving on me and all of the dance community the way you have. You always loved to give me my flowers but they never would’ve bloomed without you. I would be nothing without you. I’m heartbroken without you. It’ll never be the same without you , Anna. But the legacy you’ve left behind is a bad ass one and that’s all you ever wanted. So cheers to you for doing shit EXACTLY the way you said and the way you wanted. We miss you Na. Visit us in our dreams. Until we dance again my girl 💔✨🕊️
