Simone Ridyard describes herself as an architectural illustrator. She studied architecture at Canterbury School of Art. As an Urban Sketcher she works both to capture and to communicate spaces as parts of cities. Instinctively she works with one-point perspective. Intuitively she dresses space with light and colour, sometimes sparingly, sometimes richly.
SIMONE RIDYARD SKETCHBOOK collects drawings made in places as diverse as Kuala Lumpur, Chicago and Lisbon. This book is a collection of views of urban spaces. There is variety and energy, calm and clamour. And always the character of the artist.

If you love painting, drawing and sketching in the outdoors then this event is for you! There will be prizes awarded in the evening by artist and illustrator Simone Ridyard @Simoneridyard
🎨 Then there’s our Open Call for the DAF Summer Open. Works selected will be exhibited at venues across the village. The deadline to enter work for consideration is 5th June. And if you’d like to be a venue let us know!

No Top 9 this year - I’ve been happily sidetracked by a book project I’ve been working on pretty consistently over the past few months, involving a lot of diagrams. A full reveal will follow, but Adobe Illustrator is officially my new favourite programme! The Urban Sketchers Symposium in Poznań was undoubtedly a sketching highlight ✏️

I wasn’t able to post during Manchester Art Fair last weekend because I managed to leave my phone in an Uber on Friday night…and then spent most of the weekend tracking it around Greater Manchester. I'm pleased to report it was returned to me this week - but it did take the edge off the fair 🙄
