Excited to share that our animation “The Perpetual Tapestry” is heading to France! 🇫🇷✨ First stop: 42e Festival du Cinéma européen de Lille (March 6–11), where it will be featured in the “Autres Regards” experimental competition. A wonderful chance for the film to meet adventurous audiences who love boundary-pushing cinema! 🔗 Festival du Cinéma européen de Lille – Autres Regards Next, the journey continues to Videoformes in Clermont-Ferrand, where I’ll be attending in person! The film will screen on Sunday, March 15th at 14:30 and also be part of the “Signature” exhibition, running from Thursday, March 12th to Sunday, March 29th. The album project, Always and Never the Same, will be released on Aurora Records on January 30, 2026. The music is the result of a collaboration between Ensemble neoN and Hardanger fiddle player and composer Benedicte Maurseth. Together with Ensemble neoN, Benedicte Maurseth has composed a new piece in which the exploration of the suggestive power of repetition is a central device. Maurseth and neoN have examined how the qualities of the Hardanger fiddle can be transferred to an expanded ensemble with its rich rhythmic, tonal, and timbral palette. The soloist holds an important place in Norwegian folk music traditions, and the work makes room for each musician’s individual character. That folk music is in constant change, carrying both past and present with it, is also reflected in the visual art of Simone Hooymans. Her work is characterized by a form of naïvism stemming from a desire to invite emotional expression, atmospheres and imaginary worlds. In Hooymans’ animations, different fantasy realms are often built from simple elements, alternating between moments of continuity and extreme contrasts. The material is composed and presented by Benedicte Maurseth (TONO). All music has been developed and arranged by Maurseth in collaboration with Ensemble neoN and Jørgen Træen. I am deeply grateful for the year that has passed. So much unfolded within it, shaped with patience, care, and devotion. I traveled, wove my first small tapestry, and had the joy of meeting so many wonderful people along the way. My film The Perpetual Tapestry was finally released, beginning its long journey and already finding its way to film festivals and upcoming exhibitions. This year I was honored to have a beautiful solo exhibition at Kabuso in Øystese, where my animation Beneath the Surface Touch the Sky, created for Heidi Torsvik and Winter Lazerus, was welcomed with a luminous premiere. Throughout the year, art found its place in the public realm — with commissions for Fana Brannstasjon, Kvam VGS, and the Nedre Gangsås Day Centre in Harstad — becoming part of everyday life. Alongside these acts of making came moments of quiet wonder: seeing the Northern Lights for the first time, and finally reaching Lofoten. None of this would have unfolded without my dearest Hans Pulles, my sweet sons, and my friends and cherished colleagues, whose presence and support carried me through the year. And to all the support for my projects! I hold each of you in deep gratitude. Wishing you a gentle Christmas, and a New Year filled with light, stillness, and possibility.
