The new issue of Artlink: "experimental art: rattling the archive" is out now. Big thanks to the guest editor @sasha_grbich and @artlink_magazine for bringing together such a great theme. I have written an article that highlights the histories and importance of experimental and conceptual collections at @griffithuniversityartmuseum @fuma_museum and @georgepatongallery .

The publication "Sharing Spaces" by studio 26 documents an exemplary project that combines art making, art theory, discussion, hospitality and community. I was lucky enough to be asked to spend a day with the group and write about the project as a document of the day. There will be a book launch at the University of the Sunshine Coast later this year, but in the meantime you can order a copy from studio26art.square.site. @petalia_humphreys @studio26art @hamishsawyer @louisermayhew @paulbai_brisbane @pritatinayeganeh

I recently updated my website with documentation from the last 18 months, including my exhibition "Assets" at @outerspace.brisbane . There's also a link to the "Assets" catalogue essay by the wonderful @taraheffers . In the text section there is a link to a fabulous creative text that responds to an older work of mine by @ange_e_crawford . Also, documentation of a curated exhibition @griffithuniversityartmuseum and @iseainternational with works by @phantom_chips and @sue_beyer .

As part of Blindside ARI's 20 year celebrations, Ange Crawford wrote a creative text in response to a video installation of mine from 2009: Corridor. This work responded to the architectural context of the gallery, which is housed in the Nicholas Building. Big thanks to @blindside_ari for supporting my practice with countless exhibitions over the years (the first in 2005). Big thanks to @ange_e_crawford for an insightful text that expands the boundaries of the work fifteen years on. Image: excerpt from Ange Crawford text.

"Ellipses" will be showing as part of an exhibition "Cross Dissolve: Redefining realities through moving image" curated by Annelize Mulder @metroarts . It will be shown alongside works by @victoriawareham and Anthony Baker. Opening: 4-6pm 3rd February 2024. Gallery 2: Metro Arts. This work was filmed at 109 Edward Street, in the very last days of Metro's 40 year occupancy of that building. The work was filmed in Super 8, a common medium used in 1980 and 4k video a common medium in 2020. Like my memories of that building, which stretches back almost thirty years, it is cut and pasted together, moving across, and overlapping in a palimpsest of memories and artworks... IN FOCUS: Transient Gaze is the current program showing on the Griffith University Art Museum Moving Image and Sound Archive Portal. It features two video works by Judith Wright Transient Gaze 1 & 2 from 2005. Visit the gallery, watch the videos, and read my essay! The portal is located in the foyer of Griffith University Art Museum and is open to anyone: students, researchers, public. The portal is a searchable database where you can access individual video works from the collection and past curated programs.   It has been a great honour to develop and curate this important exhibition and research tool since 2021. It is a testament to the incredible work that Griffith University Art Museum does to preserve and share artistic culture. The portal is a permanent research tool that gives access to  collection items within the context of a gallery that is a living, evolving, welcoming, community space at the heart of the South Bank campus.  @griffithuniversityartmuseum Image: Judith Wright (2005) Transient Gaze 2, HD video.

Join me for the opening of 'Assets' at Outer Space ARI. 6-8pm Friday 16th June. Assets brings together new artworks by Simone Hine that playfully engage with the condition of contemporary visual culture, through the lens of art history, to create a dialectic between liquidity and capital, liquidity and data, and liquidity in the natural and material world. @outerspace.brisbane
