Healing Ritual was a performance by Lika Nüssli and Simon Grab, unfolding in dialogue with the botanical garden.
Simon Grab’s immersive sound universe expanded into a collective soundscape, co created with participants. Lika Nüssli responded through movement and live painting on a transparent canvas, entering into a drawing dialogue with the site specific environment.
Together, the work became an invitation to reflect on what botanical gardens can be: spaces of encounter, critical thinking, and renewed relationships with local plant knowledge.

Healing Ritual war eine Performance von Lika Nüssli und Simon Grab, die sich im Dialog mit dem Botanischen Garten entfaltete.
Simon Grabs immersives Klanguniversum erweiterte sich zu einer kollektiven Klanglandschaft, die gemeinsam mit den Teilnehmenden entstand. Lika Nüssli reagierte darauf mit Bewegung und Live Malerei auf einer transparenten Leinwand und trat in einen zeichnerischen Dialog mit der ortsspezifischen Umgebung.
Gemeinsam wurde die Arbeit zu einer Einladung, darüber nachzudenken, was Botanische Gärten sein können: Orte der Begegnung, des kritischen Denkens und neuer Beziehungen zu lokalem Pflanzenwissen.

As you’d expect from Yao Bobby & Simon Grab, the recording of this live set feels refreshingly raw and unhinged, but in contrast to their well praised duo appearance, this live set comes with the very effective added anchor of rhythm & bass from Dhangsha’s drum sampler – the trio work devastatingly well together in a live setting – and this mixtape cements that fact further.
It was recorded live to 2-track by Mich Moser at Radio RaBe in Switzerland in 2019, and published as Cassette only on LavaLava Records in Bristol UK.
Simon Grab’s overdriven bass tones & feedback sirens go in bare knuckle fight mode with the counter percussion & mashed up samplism of Dhangsha – a cool combo of explosive sound & rhythm, to which Togo’s very-own Yao Bobby responds with his expert, deadly variations of vocal & lyrical styles – Yao is in full charge of anything from ruff & ready fast-chat, to whispering, brooding vox…. If there’s a ‘calm’, it’s to signal the storm ahead.
