I’ve got some funding from work to go back to Titterstone Clee and do some walking/drawing, make a book/zine, and produce some academic writing. It’s the first time I’ve ever been given this kind of opportunity like a budget to realise an art thing I’ve proposed (I’m DIY through and through) so it’s a bizarre but welcome juncture for me. Project will start now and last about a year.
Old comic from Minor Leagues 3 (?) (2017). This was drawn on Feb 1st for 24hr comics day or whatever that thing is but didn’t really do every hour just a few. My dad was ill at this point and other things were happening so we were bewildered. I don’t really make comics anymore but I liked this one.
Went back to Titterstone Clee the other weekend. I’m making something new about the hill which should be done in the autumn. It’s been five years since WHERE? came out and nine since my dad died and sixteen months since our daughter was born. What a tumble of time
I’m chipping away at new things and have moved furniture into my studio. Trusty Formica table under a chopping mat is a family heirloom, belonging to my great grandmother (although from the 1960s). It was my drawing table for a very long time. It has stickers on it from when we went to the dentist as kids. Super Ted says clean your teeth!
Last slide: ‘The Passionate Kiss’ by Peter James Sutton, currently on display @arnolfiniarts
I’ve got a space in a shared studio @theislandbristol ! I’m an artist now (you can tell by the quality of the artist’s impression of me in situ). So very exciting.
A year, another astonishment of months. Time! What nonsense. This year more art I hope. More hope, too? I heard fireworks when I was putting nappies in the wheelie bin last night, then I went to bed. Love x
