The first project with some level of complexity that I ever built was this underwater housing for my Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K.
Its base is a Pelican hardcase, the dome and extension tubes are Ikelite DL and the knobs were taken from a vintage Ikelite housing.
It is now 5 years since I built the housing and it is still going strong with no leaks, unless you go deeper than 5 meters, which I rarely need to do.
A big improvement for Cabinet nr.3 is the way one installs the wave mechanism. Takes about a minute and the cabinet is good to go right away. For cabinets number 1 & 2 this was a somewhat difficult process. #woodworking #kinetic #kineticsculpture
Cabinet number 3. Made in Sapele veneer and finished with hardwax oil.
Does not move quite as slowly when closing as I would’ve hoped, and I’m working on improving that.
When I started my kinetic journey 4 years ago I was inspired by the work of @ivanblacksculpture and his influence on me is probably most evident in this design.
I will be making a few more of these in the future so send me an email if you are interested. Svenskar som är intresserade av att köpa just detta skåpet kan skicka ett mejl och adressen hittar ni i min profil.
I removed the previous video due to noice and bad image quality. #woodworking #kineticsculpture #kinetic
Started with this project in July 2025 and it has been one hell of a ride. Some things turned out a bit worse than I had hoped, but the really experimental stuff with magnetism and mirror/shadow patterns exceeded my expectations.
Basically the idea for this build was to make as many of the parts of the cabinet interact with each other and have patterns emerge.
I will post more details and videos in the coming weeks. Shoutout to @studio.vimo and @hasslelycke_snickeri for the valuable input in the early design stages. #woodworking #kineticsculpture #kinetic
Finally getting to assemble the base for Hasselbacken 2 , though the wave-mechanism will have to wait for a little while longer. To test out the “hallway of mirrors”-effect inside the cabinet my hands had to make do for now
Finally seeing some results with the water-veneer for Hasselbacken 2 after endless hours of sanding and finishing
