This piece is kind of me processing that human life can be "collateral damage." They speak of "collateral damage" as a sacrifice for the greater good, but saying something like this just belittles the tragedy of any life lost for any reason other than saving even more life imho. I wish we lived in a better world, but I guess we gotta work with what we have. I don't know where I was going with this caption, I was just feeling a bit melancholic I guess π€·ββοΈ Thanks for reading my ramble πββοΈ
P.S. There was a moment when I thought I wouldn't finish this piece because the composition and certain elements weren't working, but thanks to my friends' advice (shoutout to @karlyjadec@brittbaird_art and @frostbite.studios ) I was able not only to finish, but to be pretty proud of if π₯² Thanks guys β€οΈ
P.S.S. shoutout to @joenchuu for taking the picture that inspired this piece. Apparently, they're not active on IG and only post on RedNote!
Not gonna lie, this piece was inspired by this classical piece I was listening to, so it started with a simple visual idea that wasn't very deep. BUT as I was working on it, a story started building in my head and even though most people won't know this from looking at the piece, the story I came up with in my mind was a direct reflection on the results of global conflicts I've seen in the last several years. I've been reflecting on the tragedy of innocent lives lost due to vain pursuits and power struggles, which reflected in the lore I made up for this piece:
The young king who fell in love with a goddess, started a war in the pursuit of eternal glory, which he foolishly thought would make him a deity too, so that he could be with his beloved. He ignored the legends that state that deities are connected to and tasked with protecting the land and life that resides on that land. As a result, by sowing death and destruction with his army, he caused his beloved goddess to weaken, and the only way for her spirit to survive was to return to and become one with the primordial heavenly ocean. His vanity and arrogance gained him nothing at the end.
Hey, if you've read this whole thing, thank you β€οΈ I appreciate that you want to know my thoughts on top of seeing my art π₯Ί I love fantasy and its potential to help readers and viewers reflect on very real events and learn lessons β¨οΈ
I absolutely do NOT have time to be doing fanart right now, but we watched Chainsaw Man Reze Arc the other day and I had to do SOMETHING to process what I've seen..
Showing some of my book cover work that I don't usually show and sharing some thoughts I don't usually share so you better take it while I'm giving it π«

In the last several years I've went through a period of disillusionment and disappointment in what I thought were things I could rely on.
When we're children, we see the world so simply. Some people call it pink glasses, some call it black and white thinking or innocence. But for every person time invitably comes when they have to realize the world isn't what they thought it was. Hopefully, that time comes when we're self-reliant enough to take it, but unfortunately some children have to grow up early.
It's kind of sad to realize we will never get that carefree state of mind back, but I think we can still feel the world is beautiful and worth living in when we take responsibility on our tired shoulders and do something good with it β¨οΈ
P.S. Ladies and gentlemen, let's hear it for all the authors of references I used in the creation of this piece: Indonesian photographer Herman Damar, viral cute smily baby, and @kathuon πππ

@litjoycrate this is me issuing you a cease and desist on you ignoring my portfolio βοΈ What do I need to do to finally get on your art director's table??? I swear you won't regret working with me on a beautiful fantasy book edition ππβ€οΈ
To be honest, 2025 was a year of self sabotaging ππ I've lost some faith in my art self, didn't create pieces that I was very proud of, and struggled to be inspired to make art at all. I kept promising myself to get back up again and failed to follow up.
Nevertheless, I'll pick myself up again in the future, because I still have some cool goals left to achieve!! If you've felt the same way, don't feel hopeless. You have so many years left to live, anything can happen π

It's been such a long time since I've been inspired to create an art piece!! The idea came to me in the middle of the night, and I sketched it out right away. The last time this kind of inspiration happened to me was three years ago π How often does the muse visit you?
P.S. Tried a new painting style in this one! I don't know if I quite like itπ€ I'll keep experimenting!
