Over the weekend, Susan and Patrick, the founders of Silverfox Studios, delivered a keynote address at the 11th Asia Pacific Hotel Design Annual Conference in Changsha, China.
Their presentation focused on the interior design industry's shift towards adapting to future development trends and rethinking design in the post-epidemic era.
They also shared their expertise and insights with fellow industry leaders, and are excited to be a part of the ongoing evolution of the industry.

Lift lobbies are designed as an extension of the public area with panels of textured wood planking that wrap into the corridor. The corridor is divided into sections so that there is a differentiation between guestroom access and the service riser panelling. This in turn makes the corridor more interesting and less monotonous.
The re-purposed light industrial building has multiple ceiling heights determining a range of guestroom ceiling heights, from relatively low to almost double height on some of the lower floors. With open wardrobes, steel frames and printed graphic artwork depicting colour adjusted landscape impressions. The rooms have a connection to the project as a whole while being cosy and welcoming. Balconies have the exterior façade treatments wrapping into the rooms to connect the exterior to the interior and there are sections of façade that have planter boxes which relates to views over the tree canopies outside.

Elevated Dining, Elevated Design.
Step into a world of curated experiences at Il Forno, the crown jewel of @hyattcentriccitycentre_kl . We designed this extraordinary space under the premise that it is within a repurposed factory shop floor that had been divided into several different sections during its use as a light industrial building. The space is double height, and has spectacular views out to central KL, allowing guests to experience a seamless fusion of five unique structures, the Bar, Lounge, Terraces, Dining rooms and Kitchens, each designed to offer its own ambiance and experience.
Level 19 kitchen is a walk-in experience and encourages the guest to make it their own, interacting with the chef and helping themselves to a variety of product on display. Level up your time here with a different memory to take home, all in one dynamic space.
Rising gracefully within a mirrored, landscaped double-height pavilion, the giant iron staircase at @hyattcentriccitycentre_kl is a testament to the harmony between architecture and nature. Lined with verdant plants and trees, this staircase transforms a functional element into a living, breathing garden that bridges the lobby and the meeting rooms above.
Designed to complement its surroundings, this architectural gem is visible from the street and seamlessly connected to the landscaped driveway. A vision by Silverfox Studios, it reflects the perfect balance between bold design and the natural world, making it a true urban sanctuary.
Step into a tale of Tin. Inspired by Kuala Lumpur’s rich history, we approached designing @hyattcentriccitycentre_kl with an homage to the city’s tin mining legacy. We took great care in developing key stories and identifying narrative statements that reinforce the Centric brand and the overall desire to integrate the hotel into the cityscape. Acknowledging the history of tin, from mining, extraction and processing, we display tin as a tactile material, both raw and refined, with sculptures crafted from tin mine dredging components standing proudly, connecting the past with the present.
Married together with lush plants, trees, and an open nod to the neighbouring “Pineapple Park” rainforest, the lobby is a vibrant oasis in the urban heart of Kuala Lumpur. Incorporating elements of the rainforest, botanic gardens, the foliage, and flora.
Come and see the space for yourself—it’s a story waiting to be explored.
The Lobby tells a story of KL’s tin mining history and also references the rain forest in the adjacent “Pineapple Park”.
The Lobby includes sculptures that have been fabricated from tin mine dredging components.
