Reading slowly is one of the quiet luxuries of life.
To pause at a sentence.
To return to a page years later.
To see yourself differently because of a book.
Thoughtful readers understand this instinctively.

Some truths do not soften with time.
Some fractures remain visible, even when life moves on.
A line from Your Tomorrow Was Today — a novel about womanhood, memory, healing, and the courage to choose yourself.

🌹Book Review 🌹 Your Tomorrow was Today by @oyindosunmu
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
This book doesn’t just tell a story… it stays with you.
And as a debut?? This was beautiful.
The book follows Karen, a woman navigating and dominating a male-dominated field, but after the death of her mother, secrets start scattering everywhere.
It explores grief, autonomy, womanhood, found family, family expectations, healing… and so much more. Honestly, I’m short of words for this one.
When I thought Tunde would be her silver lining, he came and showed his patriarchal colors… smh. I really thought he would be her happy ending, but I had to remind myself that a happy ending doesn’t always have to involve a man.
Now Omo… hmm. I won’t lie, part of me feels like you deserved everything that happened. People might say pressure made you act the way you did, but the lack of remorse?? Chai. Where is the “women supporting women” energy??
Her tomorrow was today if she had done the right thing.
And between Bid and Ephraim (the middle daughter), I honestly don’t know who is worse. Using religion as a shield?? Bfr 😭
As Nigerians, I don’t understand why we keep alienating victims just to protect “family reputation.” Especially when it’s something happening within the family. We really need to unlearn that mindset because all it does is protect the perpetrators when we choose silence.
Honestly, this was a very good read, and it comes highly recommended from me.
Thank you @silverdrivepress for this copy. I really want a physical copy for this book 🙏🤧.
