FINNFEST is happening in Duluth, MN the last weekend in July and #silvercocoon will be in the Tori July 25-27th with a whole bunch of earrings!!! Are you planning to go? #finnfest2024
Silvercocoon + FinnFest : Duluth July 25-28, 2024
Silvercocoon will be in the Tori Nordic Fair during FinnFest in Duluth. This year, there is a Tori-only ticket that makes it easy for local Duluthians to shop, taste foods, and experience Tori-specific programming for only $10/one-day or a $20/ four-day Tori-pass. (Attendees of the larger festival have access to the Tori included in their festival pass.)
It's been years since my last 2019 Holiday sale in Duluth. The pandemic changed a lot for me - in challenging and wonderful ways. I am so happy working as a visual artist these days. But, thanks to the help of my kids (who will be running the booth when I'm busy with festival activities), we will have lots of earrings for you to shop during Tori hours the entire weekend of @finnfestusa
Hope to see you!!

This week, I had planned to promote my participation in @amswedinstitute Julmarknad (3-day market from Dec 1-3rd) and maybe those of you in the ASI loop already have your tickets and know all the vendors ... but, instead, I began isolation with Covid. So, I WILL NOT BE AT JULMARKNAD THIS WEEKEND.
A few things:
1) I opted for Paxlovid this time (wasn't an option my first time) and it is helping with symptoms. I've been pushing hard for the past 15+ months, so I'm resting hard, now.
2) I will have a table with other vendors at ASI's SOLSTICE Celebration on 12/20 as 'make-up' for missing this weekend. I'll have jewelry and ornaments, for certain, and hopefully himmeli as well.
3) If you were hoping to buy a Himmeli from me, please reach out with a private message or email to discuss details ASAP (local pickup only).
4) Lasercut ornaments are now available in the online shop. I'm old school: follow the l¡nk in profile.
THANK YOU ♡

All of the new styles available exclusively the Store at Mia (while I'm traveling thru the end of the summer) in conjunction with my solo exhibition REVEALING THREADS in the US Bank/MAEP Gallery. #tiakeo_revealingthreads
Finally, the HEM (s) earrings are a smaller, simplified version of the larger HEM earrings. I love how these easy, daily earrings can flex to symbolize the hem of my art dress, while also stirring suggestions of scalloped lace, or the radiant midnight summer sun that is so strong and so real north of the Arctic Circle where I'm spending a lot of time this summer. > This style is exclusively available at the Store at Mia while I'm traveling through the end of the summer.

The new HEM (L) earrings are inspired by the hem of the art dress that is part of my solo exhibition REVEALING THREADS that is now on view @artsmia through October 29th. The earrings reflect the ring of 16 circles that symbolize the specific ancestral generation of the great-great-grandmother I was researching.
As some of you know, Ive been designing this laser-cut jewelry since 2007. Inspired by the everyday design of Finnish companies like iitala, marimekko, Arabia, Hackman, and Fiskars I sought to offer everyday jewelry. In 2016 I began working in metal and that shift back to handwork inspired a return to my fine art practice in 2017. When the pandemic hit in 2020 and jewelry events stopped, my time and attention shifted to art - sculpture and installation. In 2021, I fell into geometry while helping my then-4th grader through distance learning. The body of work that has emerged from geometry meeting my very personal and ancestral research is the most significant and authentic expression I've managed so far in my life. You can see that work at Mia in the US Bank/MAEP gallery.
This is the first time my artwork has inspired my jewelry work. HEM are big bold hoops that hold a lot of meaning in their representation. For now, you can only get them in the Store at Mia.
DOILY (s) earrings available exclusively at The Store at Mia while I'm traveling thru the end of the summer. Shown here is Lemon Yellow + Gold

REVEALING THREADS that opens tomorrow, July 22nd!
I'm thrilled to share new designs for the first time in ... years. This first design is a laser-cut version of the metal DOILY DANGLE Earring. My time is stretched so thin right now that I wanted to offer an easier option *for me to make. This pair features transparent neon pink (!) on top and red on the bottom.
This new collection will be available in the Mia store exclusively through the end of the summer (while I am away on grant-funded art endeavors) ... so, they won't be on the website til later.
THANK YOU to Mia and Mia Store staff for your support in bringing all of my work forward!
I've been really quiet here, because I've been working hard on a big thing - a solo exhibition in the US BANK/MAEP Gallery at Mia that will open in July. I am soo extremely proud of this body of work, and the way that the physical & emotional process of making the work has helped move me through my own personal "stuff." I hope you will pencil it in and make plans to go and see the show after it opens. >> I'm also excited to share that I'm working on a collection of jewelry that will be available in the Mia Gift Shop in conjunction with my exhibition. It's been a while since I've released anything new in the jewelry realm and I think you might like what's coming! Stay tuned for more information in the coming weeks. For now, take note!! ❤️ Thank you for supporting me here, still and for over 15 years! 🙏🏻
