My interest in urban planning began in Detroit, specifically as a student in @semesterindetroit in 2016. Learning about the history of this city, turned into a career for me, which is why it was only a matter of time until I came back to work in Detroit!
I've been in the field (in different capacities) for about 5 years now, and it's crystal clear how much planning touches all of our lives. From where we live, where we shop, where we work, where our kids go to school, and how we move between all of those places (my current specialty).
Even if urban planning isn't for you, professionally, planning is definitely for you in other ways (socially, culturally, economically, etc).

finding new and maintaining adult friendships IS hard and the built environment (sadly) isn't helping. Urban planning shapes so much of our lives and the lack of thoughtful, common sense design is making us lonely!

I talk a lot about my work but not as often about how I got into urban planning generally + where I am now, so... this felt fitting lol. Have other questions for me? Ask away!!

The National Planning Conference starts tomorrow! This is by no means an extensive list, but certainly a convenient one. All businesses/attractions are tagged (if they have an IG account)!

There are many ways that people can get share feedback on projects like this, it just depends on the particular project. Public meetings feel like the most common, but surveys, websites, pop-ups, are also options!
